I went and looked at this car a week ago. I've always liked these Celicas and after seeing many guys on here posting up pics of some they own I thought this would be a cool first car for my daughter in a couple years.

Anyway after looking at the car, it was trashed. Looks good in the pics but was full of holes in the back quarters and all along the rockers. Someone had sprayed rockguard along the bottom 12" I'm guessing in an attempt to hide the rust. I couldn't even see the undercarriage because it was sitting pretty much on the ground. IMO it's not worth the time to restore this thing but would make a good parts car. After all that the guy tells me the motor is now seized as well.

My question is this, are these motors worth anything? Should I try pick this up for cheap and rebuild it and throw it in my truck or look for something else?

 

The wheels are worth $70-$150 for the set... Transmission if stick (W58) $150-$200... Otherwise, if the body is shot it ain't worth it....

 

dont do it, If your daughter doesnt drive for a few years dont buy here anything yet... save up like 50 bucks a pay 100 a month and by the time she needs a car boom you got 2500 to give her... dont tell her your saving, just tell her whatever money she saves youll match her on it so she will save smart.. then let her pick the car out if its a good deal... thats what Id do.. but for your question, no dont get it... looks like a hunk-a-junk

 

Grab the seats!! They are the best toyota seats ever made period, that is an mk2 supra not a supra gts or or a celica. Motors are not worth much but they will bolt up to your stock mounts and tranny. They don't put out much power though. Also the engine mounts off that engine are need for a 7mg swap into a toyota truck so you may want those. If the hatch is good those go for a little money as well. I had an 84 supra and it was a fun easy to work on car.
