Hi there , finaly I'll start my build up!

It's call Mustang Killer Because I plan on beeing able to race new GT Mustang (300hp) on quarter mile! :D

I pickup a 1988 single cab short box for a couple of hundred dollars... frame was bad and the overall condition of the body was ''ok''

I don't plan on building a show truck , it's about racing , doing some 8 on the pavement... tuning baby!

There will be a couple of phase for this projet , I'm using my brother garage for the job and I don't have it in the winter so..

    Here is the overall plan.

    1JZ GTTE swap , auto tranny , Ford 9'' rear end , 17'' steelies , 3-4-5'' static drop...

    Phase #1 (Before Winter)

-Preping the new frame to receive the body.
    -Change all suspension bushing.
-Install Drop Spindle and do a balljoint flip , drop the torsion bar for the rest.
-Install 4wd leaf in the back , remove some of them + a 2'' block.
-Put the cab and box back on it.

Maybe install 9'' and do the rocker on the cab...

So , this in how it goes for now!

if you are going to be racing the quarter, why are you keeping the slush box? they go pop after 350 hp..

other then that question its gonna be a sweet build.

From what I read , they will stay alive under 350Whp , with a big f**king trans cooler...

First , it's way cheap (around 800$ less..) and easyer for the sunday drive...hehe

Sound like a lot of work just to beat a stang. If your going for the 1jz swap you should be able to beat bout any street tuner unless hes boosted with nitrous full build but yet again streeting something like that would be pointless most these kids end up wading it into a wall. Anyway long story short my bud has a SR20DET in his toy and it beats any stang in town thats not full built boosted. EVen the GT500 and the new 302 boss which he ran last weekend at a test and tune. Think he has IRS rear not sure from what, carbon driveshaft, RX7 LSD so prob the IRS is RX7 as well

Not only for mustang , but my goal is 300whp :)

If everything goes has plan , it should be rolling with the twin turbo next summer....

The only thing i'm not doing is the paint/bodyjob... If it goes like I plan , I'll do the body next winter...

It's not only to beat , It will be my week-end ride also...

I'll try to keep it to date here!

    thanks again for the support!

    Not gunna back half it?

Drop blocks and power dont mix, and trucks are notorious for the lack of traction.

I see a nose heavy tire burner. To get those times up, you really need a ladder bar/ 4 link and big slicks. Just being practical. :waytogo:

    Good luck bro!

Yeah for explication , I had to cut the frame 9'' because it was singlecab/longbox and I want to put a short box on it...

There is still undercoat on the frame , under it it's stock black paint! :D

Don't worry about axle wrap , I'm from off road scene... I'll build a track bar...

That's why I want to take 4wd leaf , there is more leaf and they are flatter since the come spring over from factory...

I allready have 17x7 steelies from a 300M (I think) and the 9'' redrill 5x4.5 with a spool and 3.90 gear. just wating to see if I drive it with the 22R in spring or just wait for the big boy JZ

I had the idea of using 4wd leafs on my 2wd for more drop as well. Are they a straight swap or is more work needed? Let me know, ill keep updated on this thread as well.

Alright let me know how it goes, and post up pics of the process if can. If you can get it done, thats the next thing im doing to my truck. The part that held me up was how you going mount them and if it will line up.

At least call it a cobra killer...

Mustangs are junk! Calling it a mustang killer is like painting "chimpmunk killer" on a canon!

Besides the reality of racing is more driver than car

My uncle was known for racing a guy winning and if the loser whined about my uncles GTO being faster....
My uncle would swap cars with him and beat his own GTO with the losers car!!!

    Drivers win races not cars...

I came across a set of 4wd leafs as well. Where do you measure from, mounting hole to mounting hole? Including or not including shackle? And will i need the shackle to mount it?

From energy suspension , it's the same bushing parts number... Would have to mesure the lenght , from spring bolts to spring bolts why the weight of the truck on it , to be sure.. I'll mesure for ya once my bushing are in! :D

Be sure to have the same year has your truck... 1984 to 1988 are the same , 1989 and newer are longer...

    For the project...

-I grinded smooth the frame from all the bracketery the added before..
-I remove the Bed from the truck

Next , brake line , move the horseback crossmember a couple inches foward to fit the short box gaz tank...

    I'll post picture later.

I ordered couple parts from summit racing yesterday.

Energy Suspension , cab bushing , control arm bushing , strut rod bushing (all three back order) and leaf spring bushing.

4 Toxic Shock from Pro comp suspension

    2'' Drop spindle from wheelsnparts.com

    Just have to wait! :D
