I need to wire in a new digital oil pressure gauge. Im trying to wire it into the ignition so when I turn the key it turns the gauge on. And then I need to wire the light into the gauge cluster lights. Which wires are for the ignition and which are for the lights? I have a haynes manual but I suck at reading wiring schematics.

Get yourself a meter, will be way easier. Find out what connections turn on and off when the key is turned. You can use the remote wire for the amp/ radio to turn on the relay also. But def getting a meter would be helpful. Sorry I don't know the colors of wires I just pick the ones that have power...

I wouldn't use the remote wire for the radio as it will shut off your gauge when the radio is shut off. But 1low is right. it doesn't have to be any particular wire, just one that is powered when the ignition is turned on. Just use a test light and a buddy to turn the key on and off and either splice into the nearest wire that works or wire to the fuse box. There should be an unused port you can use.

    Copied from another forum...

30 amp AM2 protects things after the ignition switch , ecu usually things to make the engine run
40amp Am1 protects tail lights, heater (after other fuses) and other things like radio, cig lighter but usually only comes into affect while the engine is running (i.e alternator turning and key turned
the aircon fuse 30A is in a separate box next to the fusebox under the hood
The alternator fuse is a seperate fuse again 80A or 100A depending on the car and protects the alternator where as AM1 protects after the alternator
