Can you swap out a regular wiper control arm for one with intermittent control? Is there any extra wiring needed?
This is only an educated guess. Generally if the option was available that model year, if there is any extra wiring required in the loom for an upgrade like this, the wiring would be in all of the trucks. (It's cheaper to only make one loom rather than multiples) On top of that, I believe that the intermittent feature is electronically actuated and the pulse sent to the relay is created by the switch itself, so no extra wiring should be required.
Yeah, the ironic thing is though, that I have the intermittent feature and still find myself hitting mist when I need it.
Well, that is convenient for a quick wipe, because it resets itself in OFF, but I just dislike the manual intermittent on mine.
I installed intermittent wipers in my truck. I swapped the entire wiper/turn signal switch assembly out of a 4runner in. You could just change the wiper arm switch but its a little more work and requires removal and dissecting the assembly vs 4 screws and a 2 plugs to swap all of it. The hardest part is the removal and reinstall of the steering wheel. Make sure to mark your steering wheel before you pull it off and to be very careful lining up your turn signal/ horn switches because they are fragile. I had to mess with the horn wiring a little because the 4runner it was pulled from had cruise control and I have a aftermarket steering wheel but it was nothing major
Ah yes, the steering wheel removal, always a pain. When mom had my Rodeo, dad had to swap the ignition for a new one and that required the removal of it. He didn't mark it, so he got the wheels as straight as he could and it came out wrong. Gotta mark.
Thanks for replying guys. With the thought of all trucks being wired the same, I thought that were true. I went to put in a cig lighter and the wires aren't there. Removing the steering wheel's gonna suck.
They should have been... even my base model has them... they were disconnected by my dad, but they are there. Got a steering wheel puller? If not, you'll want one.
i still gotta install one in mine the right way lol aww daddy doesnt want u makin bad choices??? haha sorry DJ
Naaah. I refuse to smoke anyway. I told him to cut them to make it easier to install the head unit, one wire was loose anyway and it didn't work, so no loss.
