Looking for opinions on what rotor and calipers setup to make a new set of caliper stands for...??? I just got a set of drop spindles and can get the bolt circle measurment off them!! Which means I can cam up about any adapter/stand I need. I can then have a new run made @ emachineshop.com the previous two runs they made for me were excellent I sold 18 pairs of stands so there should be 20 guys running toy 4wd front calipers and 12.19 inch wilwood rotors on their trucks... All thanks to Litneon!! THANKS Dave!! As for the new setup... Any thoughts??
subaru brembo setup? whatever it is you decide on...... it needs to be common in the aftermarket so and good upgraded parts can be inexpensive to go off of. either or somethin like the subaru where in this case oem stuff is fairly good quality and fairly easy to find.
I wouldn't mind switching to the Wilwood calipers, I just have too much on my plate right now to mock them up this time... Oh, and your package is in the mail.
The Brembo's are hella expensive from the Subbie community... It took me 4 month of searching to find this set and i think i got an ok deal... Here's my DD I convert the fronts to the Brembo have the rears as well but just need a $200 bracket to add them as well.

been reading your thread... and wondering how your going to bolt on those calipers? Awesome! Thanks Lit! Thats more what I had in mind but I am thinking more aftermarket mainstream... IE Wilwood, Baer, SSBC, etc... and what specific model caliper and rotor... how big a rotor? My plan at this point is a 13+ rotor and ultralite 4 piston from wilwood I think that is the cheapest most effective and available setup anyone could use, well anyone with 17"+ rims that is... sorry little wheel guys! LOL Gotta decide which models would work best, also have to consider if there is a 13"+ rotor that would bolt on to the hub like the stock instead of running the rotor hat over the lugs...
Not much is gunna bolt to the stock hub. Bolting rotors onto a hub isnt hard, just have to open up the center hole, center it then bolt it. You can see it easily here...My first attempt at a killer brake upgrade. O yea! And whatever rotor your mounting, it cant have alot of offset/backspacing whatever you want to call it.
Nice pic! So the mustang? calipers just bolt up? and that is a stock 10" rotor no? not really been able to follow what you've done? As for bolting to the stock hub, I know a post on another toyota forum where the guy used a honda or nissan stock 12-13 inch rotor with a really shallow hat and just moved the stock caliper out to fit. just fyi the drop spindles relocate the caliper mounts downward from the stock spindle.

^Along with 'traction control' stuff so that the 'limited slip' will work. I would be helped if someone made up a setup using Baer parts. I will be trying it sometime with my Tacoma. The Baer website has a big list of all the parts, part #s, rotor dimensions, vehicles, kits etc. and it seems to be a wealth of info to find parts from other cars.
isn't the "traction control" on the Tundra's just brakes? I'd find a 2WD tundra with the actual LSD lol... if they have it. bolt pattern is going to be slightly bigger... Tundra wheels Brake ideas... Anything on the honda 5lugs?
Ok, ill thouroghly explain. The pic above is a 84+ spindle (mind that I have a 82) and hub.(truck) The caliper, rotor, bracket and line is stock 93-94 Lexxus LS400 The bracket takes a little modification to mount, heck 1 bolt hole lines up. That rotor is 11.64X1.26 inches. Thick! They just barely fit under my 16 in wheels. They like a 1 &1/16 master cylinder, but work fine with stock. Insane stopping power for a truck, more load than the strut rod bushing can take. And you MUST have sticky, and WIDE front tires. More pics.... Now when it comes to the brake upgrade im doing lately,... PBR aluminum cobra calipers. More than overkill without spending a ton on wilwoods,ssbc and Baer calipers. Drilled and slotted rotors for a 94-04 Mustang cobra are dirt cheap on ebay. I got F and Rears for 30 each, O yea! 13.0X1.10 Ill figure a simple bracket and mount the cobra brake bracket to that. O and thanks for the tip on drop spindles, I just ordered some. In doing the cobra stuff simply for looks. Its gunna be Gaudy as all hell, but maybe people are gunna think twice at a light
love the ls400 conversion... great budget setup... it's still a single piston floating caliper though... bet I would overheat them quick... wilwood ultralite 4pistons are pretty cheap... about $125 each, considering most stock calipers run 50-75 plus a heafty core charge! they'll run over $100 each easy. I would much rather have a fixed multipiston caliper... the cobra brakes sound awesome! can't wait to see the setup done!! I don't like being gaudy... too much attention, I drive too fast to need more attention drawn to me, I am the low profile type, If you don't know what your looking at with my rides... you won't know what your seeing disappear! LOL I even detagged most of my GTO and took the spoiler off, to the average driver it looks like a v6 fwd grand am or something... at least until the light changes *) 0-60 4.6 so more than likely I will be doing an all wilwood setup... just have to research which caliper and rotor I want to use although I have considered a cobra rotor for quite a while now, the are 13+ and bolt up... just don't know how the hat offset fits, so looking forward to seeing yours mounted
The Lexxus is twin 36mm floater. FYI. And yea the cobra rotor will fit nicely. Ill get pics soon. Edit. Look into the 95 and up LS400/LS430. They came with factory 4pot big brake suckers. The same braket mount mod above would mount em...
omfg... 4.3L LexV8 build in my truck with LS430 brakes... the LS's also have same bolt pattern, if that will help
