12.5 gal. tank same as the stock one, 225 mile range, Pro Street engine, staying at 65 + 32 mpg, 75 to 80 +27 mpg
I dunno what the MPG is in my 75 hilux yet, I don't drive it much yet. In my 93 xcab 4wd I get up to around 18mpg hwy (~300 per 17 gal tank), usually doing 70-80mph. That's with a 22re/5spd/free-flowing exhaust/4.88s/33" Toyo's. 2002 Land Cruiser gets 15 hwy on a good day with premium fuel at 70mph indicated (has 33s). 2013 Prius will get up to 60mpg with lots of traffic, usually around 45mpg with the lead foot i always use in that car.
12.5 gallons going 225 miles is 18 mpg. Oddly enough I average right around 18 mpg with the 89. 38/38 weber, free flowing exhaust and a few other things that do hack squat for increasing mileage but make it more fun to drive.
89 22RE 5spd XCAB 205/70R14s on stock wheels, stock exhaust, stock intake. im usually around 26.7-27mpg's.
Tank data doesn't mean much since you aren't filling it up from the same point each time. Track actual fuel pumped and actual miles traveled (not odometer miles, unless it's reasonably calibrated) to get true MPG. Assuming your odometer is close and you do a 12~ish gallon fill, that's mid to high 20's which is about what an R will get with mixed-to-mostly highway driving. These engines are comically bad around town, especially when the weather is cold. I can easily click off 30+ on a highway only tank, but have had as low as 19 across a tank of short in-town trips during the winter. Higher octane doesn't give better fuel economy unless you manually bump up the timing to take advantage. The 2wd trucks have no knock sensor and cannot retard timing due to low-grade fuel.
I was having all sorts of issues tracking down thermostat/waterpump/radiator/tps/everything craps... Basically the temp. Gauge didn't move, coolant barely moved, heater was cold, and engine was dog-balls slow. A lot of idling and limping to the parts store.
My truck is stock everything except my wheels, plus my heavy heavy foot, and I get like 15/16 on crappy costco gas. Why is this? Is it my heavy foot or is it something with my engine? Or maybe it's just because it's the 4 speed auto trans lol
My 94 22RE w/5 speed and ac base model as stock as they come gets 30 on the interstate at 75mph. Around town and to work I average 25 to 27.
It sure does. My 93 DLX 22RE auto gets 20 maybe 21 around town. Can't remember what it does on the interstate.
I've been debating swapping a W-56 into my truck since i bought it. I don't know if it'd be worth my money though.
I enjoy the auto when I drive in rush hour traffic which I rarely ever need to do anymore. My normal commute is only 12 miles one way. So I really don't worry about the mileage.
I work five minutes from my house so I'm never in traffic. I just want to make the truck a little more fun.
