I am on vacation right now and I have a family member get a hold of me and told me they found me a starter rig. I don't know the exact year but its going to be 89-95 body style, Its got bags on it, odometer reads 115,000 ish, body is good shape from the sounds of it, the interior is non-existant. I guess it runs good. I wont get to see it till monday so what are some good pointers to look for. Good and Bad. Thanks for any input.
the thing I would worry about most if it's already bagged is how it is setup. There are some hack jobs out there and you will have to redo alot of stuff if it's not done correctly to be safe. I've had people bring me **** that has been hacked up by somebody else to fix it and it costs them just as much to fix it if not more than it would have for them to bring me a stock truck the first time to do it right. If you've never owned a bagged truck then you should carry along someone thats has owned something thats been bagged(correctly) to tell you whether it's worth it or if you could build something yourself cheaper. It's a lot more aggravating to try to figure out something that somebody else has hacked up then it is to build something stock yourself.
Well I don't know anyone that has owned anything on bags, I didn't even know that there was a truck with bags on it anywhere near me. I think there was a honda civic with cylinders in town a few years ago, so that is a little problem, I fell I could tell if the work that has been done is good but there is so many different ways that it can be set-up to know if its a proper way to set it up or not. I guess I'll have to wait and see what it looks like when I get home.
. . . when ya get home and if its possible, snap some pictures ( if you can ) and post em up here & maybe some of the airbag guys can help you out on what to look for in potential trouble spots, I dont have that much experience in them YET!
Make sure it has been welded and wired properly. A lot of people will just throw some bags on top of the axles with leaf springs and say that a truck is bagged. But when you check it out take some pictures and post em and we'll help you out.
