ok, so on my project yota that i'm bagging, i have the torsion bars unloaded, the truck torsion bar "tabs" are touching concrete now. The picture is a few months old and a lot has been done since, but it serves a proper illustration.
I have seen yota's where the no longer needed portion of the torsion bars are just hacked off, and i have heard of people using a large bolt, or just welding in brackets (haven't seen this yet but heard of it). Anyways what is the proper or correct way to do this? i doubt i can salvage the torsion bars because it doesn't seem like they are in demand. So if you have bagged your truck, what route did you take to delete the torsions? also if you have pic's that would be nice.

that's ideal, but correct me if i'm wrong (and i don't know cause i never pulled them) but won't i have to put a bolt back through to tie the lower control arms back to the frame? They appear to be acting as the hinge.

    Yes you remove them.
The front strut bars will be in the way also, reason that the upper a-arms are modified or changed to tubular!
Changing both uppers & lowers to tubular is the way to go. And I use & recommend CanDo's!

Ok, no. (If I understand the question)
The bars are not the bolt going through the bushing. There are two bolts that hold the torsion bar bracket to the lower control arm. Remove them and the whole assembly will come loose. You could also pull the bar before removing the bracket.
The bar bracket on the LCA covers the head of the LCA bolt.

^^^^^^^^ This answers my question and is what i needed to know, thanks! I was thinking that the torsion bar is what acted as a hinge, holding the lca and welded bracket together.
