Wow! Its been a long time since I been on here. Anyways...Im currently rebuilding my 22re and thinking of buying a kit from engblder. How do I determine what size piston and bearings to order? I have allready disassembled the engine and Im preety sure no one has rebuilt it before. do I just get standard size pistons and bearings?

Thats hard to say, it all depends on the condition of the crank and block, if the cylinders are not buggered up and measure out within spec, then you could use standard size, if it has taper then boring would be better, same on the crank, if its free of any gouges or scratches and measures out to spec then standard bearings will work, best bet is get someone to check it out first.

Thanks nook. It was a running daily before I started working on it so nothing was really wrong with it. The cylinders and bearings all look ok with no deep gouges or scratches. The head gasget did have a leak with a little water in the oil but even then it started fine and I moved it in and out of the garage every now and them. I was just planning to just freshen up the bottom end with some new pistons, bearings and rings and probably change the head. Gonna try and measure everything and see what kind off numbers I get. Can I get the specs from a hayes manual?
