If you can run the stock manual fuel pump that should be enough. If you have to go electric all you need is 2-1/2 to 4-1/2 psi for the carbs...

dont' mean to jack but its slightly on topic..

BYE, did you have to use a regulator with the stock mech. fuel pump? i have a solenoid elec. pump that does about 6psi...... not sure what to do with.. what do you recommend? i have the 45's.

No regulator needed with the stock mechanical pump... The faster you rev the more it pumps! :eyecrazy:

The elec pump can be regulated to 4-1/2 max just so you don't ruin your needle and seat valve on the carbs... I have my carbs setup with dual inlet/outlet fuel "T" fittings so I can run a return line back to the tank...

    F mechanical pumps

they flucuate psi @ idle, and revs. if ya notice, every mechanical pump has a bypass on it, and is suposedly internally regulated. i threw a gauge on one, and got anywhere from 2-7lbs. and that wasnt dependant on rev speed.

get a electrical pump like BYE said, then get a DIAPHRAM BYPASS REGULATOR!!!. non bypass regulators DO NOT WORK!!! a non bypass regulator just makes the hole smaller, so you still get the same PSI just less GPH. so it can still have to much pressure to force the needle valve open, but will restrict at higher revs, making you lean out.

sidedrafts are very finiky about fuel pressure. mine likes between 2.5-4.5 @ 40-50gph. you can run them on a stock pump, or just a low psi pump. but you'll have issues at cruise, and too much fuel pressure at idle.

barry grant makes a awesome FPR, i have 2. they are also available in cool anodized colors.

can you post some picks of these regulators and their setups?

BYE advised me with a fuel pump for the 40's i have, 2-4 psi pressure...my question is since i dont have a regulator what happens to all the left over fuel? is it bad for the carbs?
