ebay store smart4cars 99 bucks or less and its the best deal, havent had a bulb burn ever and I drive 15,000 a year or less and always have my lights on day or night... plus if you have a problem they over night you new kit from china for free
I,m not aware of any write up as to "how to" but it as simple as changing a headlight bulb, you just need to get a pair of H4 headlights the size you need, 5-3/4" round, 7" round, or 7" square, whatever your truck uses, then put in the type of bulb you want, halogen, HID, ect.
cool!!! but toyotas dont have round head lights....you mean sqaureish?? and i wont have to mod any part of my harness? cool hopefully they are better than my stock ones
The early up to 78 truck used 4 5-3/4" round headlights, in 79 they went to 2 7" round lights, in 83 they went to 2 7'x6" square lights, so I take it you probably have a single 7x6 squareish light. You need to get a pair of aftermarket headlights, the glass reflector part that accepts the H4 style bulb, all types are listed on ebay and other sources, remove your grille, remove the 3 screws that hold the retaining ring on the headlight and remove the light, unplug the light and your ready to reverse the procedure, should be a direct fit, but some of the H4 lights have a rubber weather seal on the rear of the bulb where the H4 bulb clips in, and may require a little trimming on the headlight bucket to make fit, but not always. Install whatever choice of H4 bulb you want to use into the new headlight reflector, plug in the 3 prong wire connector you unplugged on removal, put new headlight back in place and reinstall the retainer ring, put the grille back on and your done.
coll ima do this since when my truck got wrecked one of my lights came un done and is significantly less brighter! thanks alot. you think i can get the h4 housing from autozxone or like kragen?
Its possible they might have a source to order something for you, can't say for sure. Most autoparts are gonna carry just the standard sealed beam replacements, the H4 style in the 7x6 size are pretty much a aftermarket conversion kit, I,m not aware of any stock rig that used a standard 7x6 H4 light. With that said most all the conversion kits like on Ebay I have seen are fairly cheap, China origin, and of pretty poor quality, ie. diamond cut, halo ring, black diamond ect. ect. and the light output from the poor reflectors can be worse than the stock lights even with super high output bulbs. It may cost a bit more but to do a quality upgrade to your lighting, the headlights(reflectors) such as Hella, Cibie, and even Autopal are of a lot higher quality, those teamed with whatever type and wattage of bulbs you desire and correct adjustment make for better lighting on the road.
you can not buy them in stores unless its like an some special store, not pep boys or auto zone. ebay is your best bet but some suck. one of mine came cracked and the reflectors fell off after 3 months. but buy those, and the hids are as simple as changing a bulb they come with instructions
also they are 100 times better then stock, once you get these you will put them on any car you ever own after.
i couldnt find any hella or cibie 7x6 lights on ebay! i found alot of cheapr conversion kits for like 30 bux and stuff. should i get that and then the hids i can get from this guy i know from a board i frequent for like 150 bux.
i forgot that the older yotas had round head lights...they would be easier to get lights for too lol. just get some 6 inch fuegos and they should be golden lol
yes, buy the cheapo depo conversions and then buy the hids, not from your buddy though unless hes selling philips or something because if its not name brand they are all the same search smart4cars on ebay his kits are good and cheap like 90 bucks and last forever, ive been running them for years
with hids say if a bulb burns out will i be able to replace it with another hid bulb? and what would i need to modd in my light harness to get it to work?
retrofit what?? the HIDS?? well he is gunna custom make it and i think nothing is better then a life time warranty. so is it good idea to get the ebay conversion and then these HIDs? i want a brighter light but not obnoxiously bright. i cant find hella nothing or cibbie!
thanks! too expensive though! im getting an hid kit for my truck with new atupal h4 housings for 170 shipped. 55w of HID goodness! waht wattage should i run...dont want to melt stuff.
