anyone tried these out?? planning on getting a 292 but just want to know all the specs! and if theyre good cams!
Sure its a Weber cam and not a Web cam? Web cams are good sticks, thats who LCE has make theirs, 292 is pretty healthy for an unmodified or lightly modded engine, specs for the 292 below-------- Toyota 20 / 22 R SOHC 8v Part #: 45-122 Grind: 172 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Intake Exhaust Valve Lash (Inch): .008 .012 Valve Lift (Inch): 0.515 0.515 Valve Lift (mm): 13.08 13.08 Advertised Duration: 292° 292° Duration @ 0.050": 268° 268° Lobe Center: 104° 104° -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Intake Opens 30° Before TDC Exhaust Opens 58° Before BDC -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Intake Closes 58° After BDC Exhaust Closes 30° After TDC -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Valve Timing Is Checked With Zero Valve Lash @ 0.050 Inches Of Valve Lift.
its a weber... this discussion went on at dragguam.com, and some peeps said that weber did indeed make cams! im just wondering if they are any good?? swapping my rc for it!! just wanna make sure theyre not duds...
true true.. just for safety precautions imma bring a stock stick just in case things smell fishy!! if all goes well with the swap, ill take some flicks! might get an 88 too that needs a shatload of work! just gotta ax my uncle about it! n ill be posting my build because i KNOW im going to need advice on bodywork and motor tuning!! thanks for the replies guys!
burn deal! damn the guy sold it already!! but he said hes getting another 1 and hes going to let me know when he gets it! kind of a good thing, cuz i want something around the 300 range.. any good options?? i really want to grab a TRD stage 3!
yeah.. i dont know much on megasquirt, but would love to try something different in my truck! this would work too, right?
Im gunna say it, but a 292 on what kind of engine? Mines a 280* Comp. I luvs it. Ive heard and ridden in B.Y.E.s 310* (IIRC) There not for stock engines. Hint hint. Ive heard of weber cams for A/C volkswagens, they have a good rep.
im building a 22r motor.. aftermarket valvetrain, custom intake, ported head, stock bottom end..if needed i will notch the pistons..
Yea 310* is not recommended for stock engines, just something I wanted to test out for myself... The 280* comp is your best all around cam choice and is proven! Lots of variables when choosing cams... Power band output, gear ratio, transmission, driving habits, ability to tune, carburation, etc, all play in it's part...
yeah i realize that.. what do you mean by stock?? top end or bottom end?? i plan on modifying the head to the best of my abilities.. bottom end might get balanced, but other than that, it will be stock internals.. would this be a problem for 300*+ cams?
Stock bottom ends are as tough as railroad spikes. If you can get the 22R head to flow enough air, a 300* cam wouldnt be a problem. But you would lose a little of that low rpm drivability... And dont forget about valve/piston touching. Nothing a little grinder cant fix. What carb(s)/intake you want to run?
thanks for all the help guys! a 300+ cam would hurt drivability?? how badly exactly?? im planning on running a custom twin throttle body EFI. havent seen one on these types so trying something different
Second or third guy on my fuel injected sidedraft idea.... I hope im the one to finish one first. My cam doesnt really get "in the groove" till about 3-3500, then its bat out of hell to redline. But that can be a combination of things such as a little 4 banger, avarage gearing, and maybe a little too much carb.
haha hey i didnt steal this idea from you tho! i had a thread called dual carb.. but you were prolly the first to think it up! youll prolly beat me to it too, due to a lack of funding on my side..
