Hi I'm Brian and I have an 88 2WD 22r pickup, long-bed deluxe model. My dad bought it brand new (as is a common theme on yota forums) and handed it down to me when I moved up north to Sacramento (originally lived in Ventura, SoCal). I have tried to learn a lot about the auto world in its entirety but with so much information to sort through, and so much WRONG information, I decided to just join up on a forum with the hopes that some of you guys might know what you're talking about. I am looking to turn my truck into an AutoX machine but still keep it suitable for DD use and not TOO crazy of mods. Currently giving it a minor overhaul to make sure it runs well before I put real money into it and blow it up. After the overhaul I plan on lowering it a couple (2-3) inches for a lower CG, and getting a suspension setup to replace the original blown one. I try to be skeptical so if I question any advice don't take it personal! Thank you for the help ahead of time and I hope I can learn a lot with the help of the rest of the yota world!
Here's the mileage and engine bay, engine needs a bath, had a bad oil leak and have been putting the cleaning off (oil leak is fixed).
Welcome! There's a few of us from the Sacramento region on this site. Interested in seeing what you do with this truck. Also interested in the AutoX -- where do they have it in Sacramento area? Lastly, I'd wait on painting the truck - especially if you're going to do stuff to the truck. Too many Toyotas get stolen as-is, so no need to start making it flashy just yet and a prime target for those thieves
good advice on the paint.. already someone tried to steal it FROM MY APARTMENT COMPLEX but a homeless guy I sorta befriended (thank god) chased him off! bought him some food and a beer as a thanks. As for AutoX, Sonoma's was on august 27th.. not sure what's next I'll post when I find out!
Welcome, i was also one of the other ones that lived in Sac, but it got too expensive and moved to Austin, TX. I have a similar story to your Yota. My truck was bought brand new from my parents. Then went down the food chain through my siblings and then finally to me.
