Okay so this is really really new for me. This is my first try at a Toyota or anything foreign. My brother in law "the ROOKIE" as I guess that's his name on here just bought a 77 hilux shortbed automatic. So I recently sold my 1970 chev short bed chev truck and then I bought me a 77 hilux shortbed standard. Runs but needs some gas tank work first. I paid 400 for it.I've always been a GM guy so this is kinda scary and new territory. I still have my 64 chev bel"on"air lowrider, basically all done and has full F/B/S/S suspension for the once of bounce. My plan is to restore this 77 Hilux, as it is about the only thing I can think of cool enough to restore from 1977 as there is nothing GM worth my time or money. So here we are. my plans include something very sleek and simple. I like the basic simpleness of the toyota trucks. Good gas mileage to drive to a show, and probably the only one at a show, (unless my brother in law goes.) Just lowered and clean, no airbags or anything like that. ( I already have one like that in my 64) so I want kind of a new twist to the old mans hot rod. shiny black paint is the goal. So here we go! I'll get this site figured out here in the next day or so and get a pict or two. So here I am "rookie" I'm out here for you bro!...Magic
yes i have found this site to be one of the best pre taco sites around, any questions just ask and welcome to the site
I too just pulled a 1977 short bed out of it's grave and plan to restore it.....like you this will be my first Toyota and first time on trying to restore anything so it's going to be a challenge.....I couldn't see this old truck go to waste being that the body is in good shape.....I'll post some pictures too once I figure out how to.....
