i have an exhuast valve leaking a little, you can hear it when it's running and the exhaust is sucking backa little. what are the facorty specs for adjusting the exhaust valves, i'm less worried about the intake valves than the exhaust. any info will help. suggest threads or give me links please?!?

the numbers are .008 and .012, larger one is the exhaust. Just make sure you adjust them when its hot

i actually found a guide on how to do it online. you do it cold, turn the engine when #1 is a TDC(timing mark on 0) and adjust the INT and Exhuast on the #1, INT on #2 and Exhaust on #3 then turn the engine 360 degrees, or to where #4 cylinder is at TDC(same as before) and adjust the intake and exhaust on #4, Exhaust on #2, and intake on #3. the numbers are right, 0.008 on the intake side and 0.012 on the exhaust. the way i always remember it, is that the intake valves are the closest to the intake and "carb" and the exhaust are the ones closer to the exhaust manifold. and it's supposed ^ lol

This would not cause a valve leak unless your valve lash was way off.

i'm sure it's not a burn valve... well almost... i'm do what i can to it tomorrow to see what i can do to it
http://www.toyotaminis.com/forum/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=173811my instructor at school is who brought it to my attention, he said he heard what he said he thought was a tap in it from about 15' away from it and came over and listened to it and he said he'd almost guarantee that it was just a valve leaking. not burn^^

These engines are gonna tap...should sound like a lil sewing machine. Wait til the engines cold and set them at .007 intake and .011, exhaust.

naw bro, engine was rebuilt not long ago. new timing chain and all, i saw the receipts. the exhaust is sucking back a little when it's running, and that's why dude said it was a valve

when i first got my 94 the tining chain guide was broken. I replaced the chain and guide with the kit sold at autozone...sure enough, 20k later it's broken again. i know it was caused from me beating on her, and i've learned to take it easy. But the plastic guides are terrible anyways. currently saving some $$ to buy the double row kit from 22reperformance.com.

once a valve leaks it will burn/leav resadew and if left long eghough the sealing will never be the same again

in less the vavle is re lapped with paste, I have dry lapped them before it helps but if to far gone it is a waste of time
