A buddy of mine & I went junkin at a junk yard today & came across two 4Runner's that were a part of the Cash 4 Clunkers thing. One is a light blue '93 that is in awesome shape! No dents, dings, or scratches. Chrome package, power everything, sunroof, tow package, & all parts are there, it looks like new except some wear & tear on the driver's seat (to be expected). Has 171k on a V6. The other is a red '90-91 in okay shape. Body is straight & all parts are there and it only has 99k miles! I want the '93 really bad! But they can't sell 'em. Also, both motors are bad cause they had to put this "liquid glass" fluid stuff in it and run 'em til they blew.
That cash for clunkers is garbage! They have something similar like that up here too! Until they decide to pay half my monthly tab on a new truck, I'll always be driving older ones. Sucks about the 93 though!
Did the government ever end up paying for the cars? I know the news did coverage down here that the government didnt pay, so many dealerships were saying they own the cars. If you really want it go back and try and see. With that clause you might be able to work something out.
So to go along with whole "cash 4 clunkers" crap. I found a Lexus SC300 with a 2JZ in it, but its bad cause of the crap they put in it to blow it up.
i feel you, what a waste!! they might as well give them away, wish i worked somewhere that was taking em..I'd be stripping the hell out of em
It broke my heart to have to kill two 4Runners.. One was a 93 with leather which I ended up snatching up some parts for my truck, and the other was an 01... They ran for awhile but the liquid glass did it toll, but they both put up a good fight! Cant same the same for the Chrysler's and Ford's though, some didn't make it to its parking spot.
