easy there guys, seems like a legitimate request for suggestions on what he can do to improve his truck's mileage.

anyway, anything to help the engine breath better, the more efficient it shall run.

swapping the rear end ring and pinions for something lower to decrease engine RPM's will help. the 5spd will provide a more flexible selection of gear ratios as you drive around.

Rear end swap 3.07 Final Drive (forgot trans code)
5 speed swap (what I'd like but not within tight budget)
aerodynamics (lower car, front valence, tonneau cover, undercarriage planks)
engine - make sure it's in tip top shape, maybe advance timing and play with diff octane.
I'd go for skinny reinforced tires that allow 44psi+
and a nice tail wind pushing you into the 30 mpg zone
play w driving techniques like drafting big truck and hypermiling - it works
