anyone happen to know what these 2 hoses and the one wire are? started fixing up the engine and ive found where everything belongs but these 3. has a blown HG but i runs, only thing is it wont idle without the clutch pedal depressed for some reason. without the clutch pedal down, it chokes out within 5 seconds. clutch down, idles forever. wondering if it has to do with one of these lines, i checked my Haynes book and i cant see these hoses on any diagrams. 1981 4x4 Canadian model

hose one coming off the air intake snorkel, cant find any vacuum ports that are empty. not too worried about this one

hose 2, its the big one that goes over the oil filter. looks like it comes from the carb area, but the other end is attached to nothing and lays on the frame

the wire, comes from the firewall and is just laying unconnected. looks like a throttle cable, cruise control maybe?

huge thank you to anyone who knows what any of the 3 are :)

Hose #1 hooks to the underside of the air cleaner and hose #2.... if I'm looking at the right hose, should connect to the float bowl vent on the carb I believe and connect to the air cleaner also.

awesome thank you. the 2nd hose is a crappy picture, but its the hose next to the fuel filter sorta. theres the fuel filter, then the black and red wires, then right beside it that large black hose. thats the disconnected one

i'll try to get a better picture of it tomorrow, its about 2ft long

Hose number 2 should go to the bottom of the intake from the smog pump. It doesn't look like you have the pump anymore though, so just plug that hose..

Honestly, you really don't need any of the hoses except for the one for vacuum advance. People may say stock carb runs like crap without them, but my last truck only had the one and ran like a champ!

The vacuum advance is the two hoses that have the metal tubes on the passenger side up by the valve cover. If I remember correctly the other end hooks up on the drivers side of the carb.

took a peek today, passenger side of the air filter housing by the clip that holds down the air filter lid theres an empty vacuum line port but its been capped off. i got it running again today so im not overly worried about it being off, when i rip it apart for the HG in a few months i'll figure it out. thanks again for the info

Are you running an aftermarket carb? If so, then the port you mentioned that's on the passenger side of the air cleaner assembly will be capped off. I asked my carb mechanic the same question. Regarding hose #1, you will find a port on the underside of the air cleaner.

    Most likely a stock carb.

If you don't have to go through emissions with this truck you should egr delete and get rid of all the hoses while your changing the head gasket. It's super easy and cleans the area up a lot!

we have no emissions in Alberta, dont even need to have a cat converter so i usually dump all emissions stuff on my cars lol. but i will look into removing the EGR for sure while its all apart

It's SUPER easy! It's like 7 or 10 bolts total and a little wiggling and it's done. You'll need to make or buy the block off plates but that's it.

last question im gonna bug you guys with, does anyone elses shifter "swivel"? i went to look into the shift linkage problem, shifter is loose and unless you hold the shifter in a specific way the shifter will touch the dash to go into 1st gear. in neutral, i can spin the shifter arm going into the trans clockwise or counter clockwise 360 degrees. i took the whole shifter assembly apart down to the top of the gearbox and theres nothing obvious, it still shifts fine in all gears and finds them but the shifter has a ton of play and only 1st will touch the dash

its hard to explain, i'll try to make a vid tomorrow
