ok don't flame i tried finding this answer but never could get a concrete answer. Tubular control arms. They are 800 bucks! For a toyota, are they worth the money and what is the benefit going from an oem control arm to a tubular better looking control arm? Is it purely cosmetics? Is the geometry of the parts the same as oem? I'm just trying to see if the benefit is worth the $800 bucks.
If your talkin about the cando specialties ones they are definitely worth the money. They eliminate the strut bar. On my Mazda it was bagged on stock arms didn't ride the best an didn't get much lift. But on my yota I put on the cando arms rides better an gets plenty of lift
The Cando arms do a couple things for you. They give you an easier place to mount the bag, which can result in more drop and lift. They also will use different ball joints which allow more angle, increasing potential wheel travel. Oh yeah, you will also have more bag clearance on the upper A arm over the stock one.
Yes ! They are the best out there for our trucks, built by a Toyota guy( one of the best)! Will kept your truck suspension were it should be ! You still should run Beltect dropped spinals! Ride quality is what you want & control!
Definitely a Toyota guy builds them. He's a real cool guy to talk to. If you have any more questions email him an he'll tell you everything you need to kno
thats really neat to know, i thought it was cool when i saw that Bob Grant of Grant Kustoms builds some yota's too. I'm still getting into and learning the mini truckin world, i've mainly been an import guy. Although i'm not surprised that a toyota owner actually put those parts on the market, because when i started looking for parts for my toyota some 10 years ago, i could barely find anything more than a Sir Michaels roll pan, and that was about it.
can anyone share the model number for the yota screw in upper ball joints? is it the same upper and lower in these arms?
For the cando arms? Falcon Fk727 and Fk778. Or tread saver chassis parts upper bj K772/ 260-1042 FA395 lower bj k778/ 260-1048 fa397
Ok question. I have a 91 yota. im bagging the front n ran into what i think is a problem. I have the cando upper a arms n beltech 2 inch drop spindles. problem i cant fully get the bottom of the upper a arm to meet the top of tge spindle because of tge taper of the screw in ball join. theres at least 3/4 inch gap. Is there sopposed to be?
Um, yeah. They don't fit like the toyota parts, because they aren't. They are slightly different. If you think it's drastic, post up a few pics so we can see and get a better idea of what you're dealing with. As long as you can get the cotter pin in the castle nut, it should be fine. The alignment will help alleviate any geometry changes.
The arms in question were ordinarily made by another company that gave the blue prints & jigs to Steve Nelson ( CanDo), & he took over the building of them! Tubular arms : 1) allow you to discard the strut bars (which are in the way to lay frame) 2) give more movement up & down 3) do away with any binding of the arms 4) look much better & are stronger
Okay im a little late to the party and new to all this so if im posting this question wrong please let me know. I am thinking of buying cando upper and lower arms for my 85 Toyota pickup. I’ve never done any fab work and probably not the best to try on this but the lower triangulated an arms got me stumped. Anyone have pictures of how they have theirs installed and maybe a little guidance?
