So I decided to clean up my engine bay by removing the charcoal canister and the VSV valve/solenoid. I didn't notice and problems at first, but when I drove it accelerating was the same but when I hold a steady throttle in 4th and 5th, it will sputter a little and sometimes it feels like the trucks going to die and picks back up again. Need a 22r expert, doesn't feel safe at all to be driving.
has nothing it do with cansiter in less you mixed you vacume lines up or took off the wrong vs and took off the one that control the fuel reg even my 22re get grumpy some time then clear's up I neck named it (IT'S 22RE THING) but easy fix is to pull the efi fuse and then plug it in so the ecu can re learn then see if it comes back good luck
My motor is carb(22r), and I removed everything on the passengerside of the bay except the battery, fuse box, amd starter relay. And I plugged the vacume lines.
Well cant find anything wrong with the lines. All the lines that were plugged into all that evap stuff got capped after removal
Did u put a vacuum cap on your fuel tank vent to the charcoal can hose or leave it vented to the atmosphere. Witch switches did u remove both vac switches 1-2 and the vacuum advance switch located next to them ?
Do you still have vacuum advance solinoid its bolted to the same bracket round metal thing one vacuum line hooked to it
Ha no it's to ugly to put back I tossed mine to if u have a factory carb in good running order there very sensitive to changes that black solenoid to the bottom left of picture looks like the vacuum advance solenoid ..u may check your timing and bump it up a hair may resolve your hiccup at cruising speed that solenoid is connected to one of the two tubes running of the dizzy if I remember correctly via the metal vacuum lines
you can also try spray starting fluid to see if any plugs are leaking. also change your fuel filter. do you hhave the stock aisin carb?
WOT there no problems, only between 2000 and 2500 rpms when holding steady throttle or decelerating part throttle does it start to sputter.
Plug your vacuum line on the inside port on the dizzy and see if it does it . The vacuum line not the nipple on the dizzy
try un plugging both vac lines to the dizzy and capm. then run the truck see if get problems. The other line is for emission purposes, which can be plugged.
When I desmogged my 22r I had to hook that upper valve thing back up to get it to run good / not backfire. My repair manual called it a vacuum switch, may not be your issue but worth a shot. It's the middle left one in the picture. Atleast thats what mine looks like. The 88 vacuum diagram shows where it should be hooked up. 22R, 22RE, 22RTE Vacuum Diagrams - Pirate4x4.Com : 4x4 and Off-Road Forum
