It looks like I am about to buy a white 76 with 90,000 miles on it. if i do get it, crossing my fingers, i will eventually put a turbo 3rz in it. it is an sr5 with a 5 speed tranny. my question is this.... is it likely a w series transmission?
I have heard that. if it happens, crossing fingers once again, it'll have forged internals and the head will be built. the price on a 2rz is a bit cheaper. i thought about a 2rz and bore it out a little but i've also heard there is a problem with the amount of head gasket surface betwen cylinders if i was to do that. is that true?
Im not to familiar with those motors, but there are quite a few guys on here that have done the swap as well as boosting them. Try the searching it on here there are a couple of build threads on it
just got the word that the truck is mine.... Yay!!! i still need to figure out what transmission is under the truck.
Personally I would just put a w58 in it, so it wouldn't matter what it comes with or the mileage on the motor since you are swapping it anyways.
i just wanted to see if it was gonna be strong enough to hold up to what i'm wanting to get out of the motor. i'm expecting 550+hp. if i've got to search for a w58 then so be it.
