i wanna lower my truck but sure if cranking the torsions all the way down would be the best option. for the rear i was planning to pull the middle leaf out. i need some helps guys.
Cranking them all the way down in the front and just pulling the middle leaf in back would make the front way lower then the back. Go with 3in blocks and middle leaf pulled in back and cranked torsions and b/j flip in front and you would sit nice and pretty. Most of the guys on here go with this set up. But if you have the money i would go with drop spindals in front and drop leafs in back. There is tons of different ways depending on how much you want to spend.
Crank the torsions but take ur time doin it n make sure its level n that he LCA isnt riding the bumpstop. After u get it where u want it, cycle the suspension so it settles a bit and adjust as needed. Might take driving the truck a few miles for it to settle
front, set it up with a b/j flip first, then crank down the torsions till there is about 2" of threads left on the bolts. rear, do a 3" block, then remove the middle leaf from the pack. should bring you down for the least amount of $$$
out of all the trucks ive ever dropped....... all the way down to 8" up front, ive never had to mess with camber. for some reason the suspension geometry allows the camber to stay relatively unaffected. (in my experience) when i did the ball joint flip on my truck, i flipped the upper ball joint to the top of the arm but its honestly pointless. the upper arms where the b/j attaches to is fairly thin and wont make a difference. all other trucks ive done the b/j flip to, i decided not to flip the upper ones and are not affected. the only trucks that had a camber issue were ones that already had a camber issue before the drop. even then, ive run the camber out on one truck to match the other side and that truck has yet to show any signs of issues with the camber ive set.
Just gonna jump in here. I am new to this as far as lowering, done plenty of lifting. I think I pretty much understand the indexing of the torsion bars. My problem is I dont quite understand the B/J flip. Could you explain in a little more detail of what to do and possibly post some pics, And how much drop will I achieve altogether with flipping and indexing everything?
I drove my truck for the first time yesterday and i have drop spindles on the front with a B/J flip, in the back i have just 4 inch angled blocks. I think I might buy some 3 inch blocks and pull the middle leaf. I seem to drag on some drive ways on either the back u bolts or the sway bar on the front. The front I cant get around if i want it dropped that low but the back i can increase about 1.5 inches.
the rear you may be hanging up on the lower leaf perches..... it happens sometimes. the front it may be the transmission cross support bar....... you can remove this if you still have it (4 bolts) but it helps should you ever remove the motor and leave the transmission in.
By removing the transmission cross support bar does it effect anything? Or is it there just for when you pull the motor and not the tranny? But i mostly scrap my cat cover
mostly for when you yank the motor. i keep it in since it will "clearance" itself over time. if i was really concerned about rigidity, i would make a flat bar support with better clearance.... but its not really worth the hassle. if you hit too often and it concerns you, remove it. it will not hurt the truck.
