Raise the front of the truck and support it on both sides with jack stands. You should be able to see the torsion bar running from the lower control arm parallel to the frame. The bolts for adjusting it are at the end of it, about where the door is. There is a long bolt running up through the end of the torsion bar with 2 nuts locked together on top of it. You need two wrenches to break the top nut loose while holding the bottom nut. Once the lock nut is loose, you can spin it by hand up the bolt. If you do both sides you can move the nuts up an equal amount. Not sure how far up the bolt equals how much drop. Next you have to hold the remaining nut while you turn the bolt head. You will notice the bolt slowly lowering out of the mount. This is loosening the tension in the torsion bar making it a softer spring which lowers your truck. Here's where you just have to start playing with it. If you have a good set of car ramps I'd recommend using them. After your initial change in bolt length lower the truck back down off of the stands and see where you are. You can then put it on the ramps to tweak the bolts with the weight of the truck on the tbars till you get the ride height you want. When you have your height correct, spin the locking nut back down to the other nut. Then tighten them by holding the bottom nut and turning the top nut. Enjoy your softer/bouncy ride with your new stance. Lol j/k. Good luck, biggest hurdle can be getting the locking nuts to separate. Mine are 22mm.
ok so i got the top nut loose so now i just holt the remaining nut and turn wich other one to actually lower the truck?
Took a pic for ya but Internet is out and can't get pic from Facebook to here. If u need more help u can pm me your number and I can text it to you
ok i figured it out lol, my truck is now slammed, looks so sick. the back tires rub on the fender like crazy though... and my front rub when turning real sharp,
Time to get a wooden baseball bat and hammer to the inner fenders and fender lips. Get things to not run anymore. And post a pic, we've all been waiting. You keep talking about it
so just take off the wheel an go at it? also ill post a pic today its just hard because i have a crappy flip phone lol
Looking much better bud. First thing is take out the plastic fender liners. Those will get rubbed before the metal. Then hammer the pinch weld at the back flat. Then drive it around. Any spots the run will become shiny. Hit the shiny spots with a hammer then bomb can them black. Drive again, hit the shiny spots. Eventually you'll stop rubbing and be ready to lower it more. I had a 92 dropped 4" up front and only recall that pinch weld along the firewall being an issue. Oh, and grind down any screw or bolt heads in the path of the treads.
yup already took the fender liners out and kinda pulled the fenders out a little except on the gas tank side the back wheel sticks out alot more it looks like that fender just isint out as much since the tank door is on that side. i need to go one maybe 2 more inches on that side, i wanna pull the middle leafs but then i wont be able to haul my dirtbike or me and my friends bmx bikes without it squatting alot
There's a bracket holding the bed side to the wheel tub. It's directly above the tire. Has 2 holes. You can use a block of wood and a scissor jack to push the bed sides out and the stick it into the other hole. That should hold the bed out about an extra inch. Should work on both sides, did for my 92.
dang it annoys me how the front sits so much lower than the back how much are beefd burrito blocks 4"
Dunno how much they are. You already mentioned its a tight fit out back. I wouldn't lower the back until you stretch the bed metal. And then id pull a leaf.
so just cram a scissor jack in there and start jacking the bed out? how much will pulling the fat leaf change how much i put in my bed? could i still haul say 350 lbs without it squatting to much?
i read i can put the fat leaf on the top of the 2 thin ones to kinda de arch them a little bit to get lower? also the back of my truck leans to the drivers side more why?
