go under your truck...... on the transmission crossmember you will see along each side 2 long bolts that pertrude through the cross member with two locknuts at the top. those are your adjustment bolts for your torsions. you need to loosen the locknuts so that the lower one spins free from the top locknut. you will need two size 22mm wrenches preferably as long as you can find. once you have those separated from eachother, you will need a size 22mm socket and long wratchet or breaker bar to turn the torsions down. remember the fundamental saying "righty tighty, lefty loosey" you will need to loosen the bolts while holding the bottom locknut with a wrench. this will be easier if the front wheels are completely off the ground. generally you will likely want about 2 inches worth of threads showing on the bolts you are loosening measured from the top base of the locknut till the end of the bolt. if you take a look at MacRib's "Little red" project thread, you will see roughly how much drop you can gain. we loosened the torsions on his and put shorter travel toxic shocks in the front and removed the bumpstops.
Sweet, i love you dude (no homo) I'll get this going preferably after school.. the fender to tire gap is killing me!
i only have one nut above the crossmember on the bolt. If i dont hold the nut in place and turn the bolt, they all move together. Is that ok? i read here ( http://www.off-road.com/trucks4x4/article/articleDetail.jsp?id=398514 ) that i should replace the nut and bolt. Is that right? i have yet to get two 22mm sockets, so i havent tried holding the nut in place. am i just being overly careful?
I used an open box wrench for the top nut, and the socket for the bolt on the bottom. it's going to be one tricky experience!
