I have 225/45/R17 on my truck now with no spare. I still have my spare steel wheel and would like to find a tire that is a 14 and would work as a spare in the event that I need it. So what is a tire size that would work? The stock is 205/75/14 and that is a taller tire. Could I get that size and just drop the side wall down some to get close?
i think you are going to be shooting for a 205/70/14 i think is the match to that one. If you call a tire place they got the tire specs and can get ya something real close
225-45-17 is 24.97" tall. Are you running the spare under the bed? How low are you? I'd suggest a 185 width, so it doesn't hang down as far. A 185/75/14 is 24.92" tall. Now not every tire installed is exactly the same size. But that should be a damn close match, just a bit narrower. If you did a 205/70/14, it would be wider, and slightly taller. Plus, the skinny and tall tires are cheaper than 70 series. Probably only by a few bucks. But again, it saves space underneath so you don't see it as much.
yea im running 205/70/14s. theyre about as tall as my buddies 225/40/18s. Just slightly taller i believe. 225/45/17s i think are as tall as 225/40/18s
Use a tire size calculator.... The miata website one is my fav http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html Looks like a 185 75 14 is the closest in diameter http://www.google.com/products?q=18...esult_group&ct=title&resnum=1&ved=0CBoQrQQwAA
