Ive been trying to time my truck, the vacuum advanced wasnt working so I swapped the diaphragm. The timing has never been right on this truck so im looking for a step by step way to get the timing perfect.

there are 2 marks on the crank pulley, one on the passenger side that is like ll and one on the driver side like l. so it looks like this on the pulley ll l. supposably the double notch is btdc advanced 8degrees. and the single notch is tdc.

so this is how I would time it and it still runs funky. the vacuum advanced knob I turn it all the way out. unplug the vacuum advanced and plug it, set the timing to the first mark which is supposably zero, it wont run at all when set on 8 degrees advanced.

then I plug up the vacuum advanced and use the adjustment knob to somewhere around 25 advanced. and it runs fine until wide open throttle. I may try timing it to 8 degrees with it unpluged if i have someone that can keep it running while I time it.

I just want to know if im doing it right.
