Hello Forum, My name is Vince and I've been addicted to Toyota Mini Trucks since 1993 when I was given a black 1989 Toyota Hilux at the age of 17. That truck went through hell and back as I learned how to become a self proclaimed backyard mechanic with the intention of becoming the Ruler of the illegal drag strip (Back Road). Needless to say that never came to be so I sold old Black and moved to Nor Cal. I am now the proud owner of a Red 1983 Toyota Hilux which I have recently purchased a new motor for from 22REPerformance.com out of Chico, Ca. My plans are plain and simple: lower 3", put the EFI Turbo 8 flat bar alloy wheels (EFI's) from the '84-'88 models and enjoy. Love the forum and glad to be apart of it.
Welcome, Vince! Glad you found your '83 in pretty good condition. I've had my truck since HS when it was new, so I know these trucks inside & out. In fact, I'll never get rid of my truck. It's still fun to drive and I enjoy the occasional compliments. Rick

The motor I purchased is a stage 2 from 22REPerformance.com which I plan to run stock till I stack more cash.. Once I get Lil Red running and back on the road my plan is to lower her 3".
