My 1987 yota `s temp and fuel gauge is not working I have checked the sending unit on the tank ever replaced it still no luck where is the fuse? I have checked all fuse that I could find and no luck .$100 dollar truck in the Florida and it`s still 85 degrees out .Thank you for your time . Glen
Have u checked to see if u got a good wire to the guage? maybe its bad, that or ur guages themselves are bad..
The dash cluster I do need to check the main ground been working on removing the oil pan and oil pump what a mission . Key largo Florida .
now my temp and fuel gauges and kinda working they go up and then back down .I have replaced my pos batt hook up and checked my grounds under the hood, but still have not finger out the problem and I still need to work on my dash grounds.
took the dash apart the gauge cluster looks good checked and cleaned all the two grounds that I could find and notta
If you check a FSM there are step by step instructions for trouble shooting gauges and sending units with a DMM.
yep .. my fuel sender was not quite reading right as well .. so I broke out the manual , and pulled the dash guage . turned out my "values" we not right on the guage itself .. I replaced with another , and cured my problem ..
so no fuse ? and i need a sensor for temp ? I do know one thing she will do over 100mph for sure ..loving my $100 dollar hollar
So the now my gauges are kinda working they go up and then slowly back down I think is a weak ground .
I found out that the wire on the temp sensor was dirty so cleaned it and now my temp gauge works but now my freeze plugs are rusted out .
Tank size and guage position Standard "fleetside" beds are 17 gallon tanks, right? Well every time I fill it up completely on the empty line I only put in 10 gallons... does anyone else's non SR5 guage cluster have the guage rest below the empty line on their trucks? Just want to know if I need to replace the float or adjust the guage to the empty line...
i think these trucks have 12 gallon tanks...yes my guage line sits below the E line when truck is off, is this what u mean?
Well, I've even read some of those brochures on toyotareference.com and even in my owner's manual and Chilton guide I have that they are 17 gallons on the 4WD. But you are correct on the 2WD (as you should be) because the Chilton guide says your tank can only hold 12.
ok, thats good info right there best way to find out is ride out the gas tank for as long as u can stand it on E..hehe thats how i found out..
Always possible. But to me, it seems like it would be the equivalent to not eating for 3+ days. Not to mention I had to have the thing towed home for the fuel pump giving out, I fixed it now, but not something I want to do again... I know, I should have bought a new float while I was at it, but my bank account is bone-dry and my paychecks are meager. I'm lucky that my aunt and uncle's shop here in Lake Elsinore supplies me with my parts at a discount with store credit. Team Autoaid is the place I go to the most, because I can get things there that I can't get at Kragen or Auto Zone, only time I will go to those places is if someone gave me a gift card or if it is after hours and I need the part immediately.
