who here has half clears or full clear rear tail lights? im trying to decide what i want.... local PD might frown on full clears so not sure if they're worth it... if anyone has pictures of either, post em up!

 

I vote half and halfs. LED bulbs for turn signals to keep the lens white when its off. I always loved that look. Good luck finding a set that doesn't have a recessed reflector area

Is that a taco tailgate? I heard they fit but forgot all about it. If you tinted the bottom half of the ebay tails red it would look pretty cool.

he got the ones with the reflector flush, but they kept fogging up on him and it was IN the plastic... not sure what caused it but they ended up getting replaced

 

yea... i just noticed that too.... the top of the body lines aaaaaalmost line up.

 

Did he swap the blinker and reverse bulbs?

 

Yup its a taco tailgate...im currently looking for original yota tailgate
or i might run no tailgate dont like the taco tailgate

 

What about ordering a smooth tailgate skin for an 89-95 and welding that to the taco gate?

 

yea... thats a lighting mod i came up with originally way back when. theres a writeup on it in the tech section at the bottom of the forum. ill be doing the same swap when i get my clears.

 

I have had two set of the red/clears. Both have fogged up on me. So now I run the red led tails. I love the modern look and they haven't fogged or anything in over 2yrs. I have my old red/clear in my garage SD if interested.

 

Never had any problems of them fogging up when they were on my truck. I'm wondering if Alan had the rubber gasket around the lens?

 

Those are the ONLY option IMO.

What seller had them for less than 100?

 

Thats is the same seller i bought my last two pairs from. Great seller. I like the led lights for the touch of modern to a classic truck

 

damn man... i just ordered em last night! i ordered the half clears... kinda wanna order both and that way i can swap if i wanted to..

i know... im kinda wondering the same thing? he has a set of full clears and so far so good... i just dont like the colored bulbs... so im running LED's in em

yea, i thought about these but given the "look" im going for with my truck, the clears are more period correct for it... still love the LED's tho... they look super clean.

 

i had the half red/clears on our 89.

only have one crappy pic though lol



found em on ebay. they fit really nice and looked great. when i took the truck apart to swap frame to the 4runner i listed on here and they sold the same day. didn't have moisture issues but it's az so thats probably why lol.
