Im going crazy, my titan is eating tires without mercy ! I need to get this problem fixed asap they are over 400 a piece. 2 are new and 2 are 99% bald and one of those has a nail in it !, I cant put the new ones on the back because of the rain, I need to be able to stop and steer. so heres my issue... It never started eating tires till I got my 6 inch lift...

Before the lift I had a 4.5 inch lift now im roughly at 8 inches in the front. I had the same rims and the same tires before and after the lift, the only actual change other than lift, was they re-attatched my sway bar that I had disconnected because it was better without it and it kept flipping because of the stress of the mini lift...

Im pretty positive that my front driver side shock is no good. It makes terrible noises and leaks.. also sure it all leaked out by now.. I WD40 it a lot though...

My driver side tire has a lot of camber wear but the passenger side looks brand new.. but only shows a tiny bit of camber wear, I had it on the driver side but I rotated left to right... the truck pulls to the right.. not hard, but if you let go of the wheel it will go to the right every time...if the truck is parked with the wheel straight the driver side tire points a small but noticeable amount to the left ( as if the wheel is turning left..)

I also noticed that on speed bumps, or when I slam on the brake, the front tires SCREAMM like they are locked up ! they have never done that before... on speed bumps they scream when I hit the first bump, and when I hit the ground after the bump, Or if Im hitting the brakes at all on the speed bump it screams the whole way through...

Ive had my alignment done like 5 times in the past 3 months with stock rims and tires, and my 22s... sometimes it drives straight on the way home, but not much longer then that ! It always goes back ! Also noticed a slight "death wobble" at certain speeds... feels like one wheel is wobbling.. gunna tighten all my lugs tomorrow and my leafs springs...

Soooo... what could be throwing my alignment off ??? Fabtech told me that my rims are too wide with too much of a neg. offset (22x11 -44 offset.) and with the truck being higher it does something to the center of gravity...

could my bad shock cause the camber issue ??? I know that the springs hold the truck up but Ive also heard you do not need an alignment with new coil overs or shocks which means it wouldnt matter if you had a blown shock or not because coil overs lift the truck 1 to 3 more inches and if that doesnt mess the alignment up then how could a blown shock???

and last could my sway bar be bent or something and be messing up my toe ?!?!? Im going to take the sway bar off tomorrow and see if it changes anything, and hopefully find the time and money to drive 45 mins away to get my alignment since no body in my area does alignments on 22s ( i have a 1 year alignment at tire kingdom..)

SORRY for the freaking long post but Im at a loss here.. I dont even wanna drive my truck because before I know It Ill need 4 tires instead of 2 :( !!!!!!

and for those who dont believe me, check the ebay price on these tires.. now imagine how much local shops want for them after their mark up and mounting and balance fees !!!!!

I gotta say something sounds loose/worn out. Like a driver side ball joint (upper or lower or both) a wheel bearing, or the tie rod ends.

They can alighn it all you want, but the dynamics of it change when your rolling or slowing down. Like too much slack in it somewhere.

Jack it up by the frame and push/pull the front wheels both at a 12 and 6 position and at a 3 and 9. wiggle it hard and see if you have any slack.

For the tie rod ends, if it moves at the 3-9 (and the steering wheel is locked) you have a problem

If it wiggles at all in the 12-6, most likely ball joints, but it could be a wheel bearing also.

Sorry bud, but big tires ang big lifts do HELL to everything. Your tires probably weigh over 100 lbs and thats a lot of momentum for the suspension to control.

    LMK what you find...:waytogo:

My 5 years at a nissan dealership we had two or three guys with lifted titans, one with 24's. All they had was problems with there tie rod ends after they lifted them. The problem is with the bigger wheels ( 20-24 ) puts alot of stress there. I never sold any ball joints on a titan while I was there.

thanks raff. I was actually on my way out to do those checks right now. and Project thanks also.. im pretty sure its going to be tie rods, the truck has 54k miles. I put 22s on it at 25k miles with small street tires, then went up in tire size around 35k miles. lift was at 50k and right now its at 54k. Im probably going to start replacing things one at a time.

Also I dont know if I said this but when I get alignments they tell me its not right, they dont know why but they say the toe is adjusted all the way out on one side and there is no more to go.

you mean qx56 ? and I cant because I already have a body kit on it, so it would look stupid.. would look cool if I were lowered though !

also, I just finished checking it all out, none of the wheels have much play at all.. only side to side when I pull and push on the 3 and 6 position. but its not the tie rods, they are tight as they should be.. maybe my rack and pinion ?? it doesnt seam like theres much play, only enough to notice the wheel moves. I wouldnt even say 1/4 inch both ways. I am lost... maybe they just dont know how to align it ?!?!

Nissan did have trouble out of there r&p. Instead of being straight across like stock, It's lifted 6 or 7 inches and it has to extend farther to work going beyond what is was designed for. So it sounds like the rack is kinda coming apart. you also may want to check the rack bushings. Just wanted to throw my .02 in.

how do I check that ? also it doesnt have much play like Im really not worried about it unless its supposed to have zero play, I just dont think it has enough to make any difference

I just found this you may want to check out.

    1. I OWN A 2006 NISSAN TITAN CREW CAB SE. AFTER NORMAL DRIVING OF THE VEHICLE FOR 2 YEARS AND 2 MONTHS THE VEHICLE REQUIRES AN ALIGNMENT. THE VEHICLE HAS NO WAY TO ADJUST THE CAMBER. THERE WAS NO CAMBER KIT INSTALLED ON THE VEHICLE FROM THE FACTORY. EVERY MANUFACTURER KNOWS THAT PART OF PROPER MAINTENANCE IS REALIGNING THE VEHICLE. 2. I HAVE SEARCHED THE INTERNET TO FIND OUT IF OTHER TITAN OWNERS HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM AND I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS BLOGS OF 2006 NISSAN TITANS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS THE ONLY YEAR I HAVE FOUND THAT NISSAN FAILED TO PROVIDE THE ABILITY TO ALIGN THE VEHICLE. 3. NISSAN HAS DONE NOTHING TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM. WHEN NISSAN IS CONTACTED THEY INFORM ME THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO SINCE MY VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY SINCE I HAVE EXCEEDED THE 36,000 MILES. I AM TOLD THAT I HAVE TO PURCHASE A CAMBER KIT FROM NISSAN IN ORDER TO ALIGN THE VEHICLE.

Well, ever since I got my lift put on at 4wheelparts in Tampa Fl. the truck has gone downhill.. multiple alignments, brake caliper and wheels flying off.. you name it, it happened...they even stole my spare tire.. anyways the tech got fired after holding my truck for a week for the lift to be installed and theyve fixed a few problems, new rim, tire, all new brakes rotors calipers pads bolts abs sensors..yada yada yada... well on top of all the steering and clunking problems I have, 1 tires has 2 nails in it so I went to fill it up and noticed my ubolt was in the wrong spot... they didnt even put it on the freaking bracket for the bump stop... also my brake abs and slip light have been coming on every 5 to 10 times I start my truck since the lift..which started when my caliper flew off and stretched my abs sensor...

So I called them up again and the lady picked up and I stated my problem and vehicle and she said oh hey Javier... talk to Josh.. so I did and he put her back on the phone.. so she said drop it off for the day first thing in the morning and they would spend the day on fixing all the mistakes... assured me I was in good hands and how great their new techs were.. So I get a free alignment and look over everything again and whatever other parts that have been damaged will be replaced... im going to try and get 2 new tires since mine have been eaten up so badly in the last 5k miles with the lift and Ill pay them to put on some new bilsteins while its in the shop.. Im excited and cant wait to hopefully be able to get my truck back the way it should have been on day 1 of this mess... wish me luck !!!

By the way, Im not trying to discourage you from 4 wheel parts, I think they have an amazing company, and its sad to see only a few bad apples can ruin the tree !... My only complaint is that this whole thing dragged out so long but they are stepping up and taking care of things free of charge way after the 90 day warranty expired... I will continue to shop there whenever I need something for my truck...

My bet is ur toe is what's jacked
you can align urself in the garage with a piece of string to get it in the ball park
find a landmark on the the tire, usually center tread line on the fronts of the tires measure the distance and compar with the distance on the back of the center tread and adjust tie rods accordingly

Lifting puts more strain on suspension parts, I'd also look into worn out balljoints or something binding maybe?
