i finally got a nice day and was able to get my headliner made and installed along with the A pillars. went alot easier than i expected. just the trimming was time consuming. so here is my step by step. my original plan to use the back of dresser didnt work like i wanted so went another route. i used the left over 1/2" foam and filled from the sunroof to the reinforced frame around the edges. this made it nice and flush. this is the metal bracket that original vinyl headliner was attached to. i reused this. i then glued the batting to the bracket. now i laid the old headliner on the new tweed and trimmed out. now i didnt get pic of this step, but i then glued the tweed to the batting and bracket. just like 3" or so of it. this is so i can get to the screws that mount it to truck. this is pic of just the batting glued into place. after 1/2 hour of trimming. from here it was just starting from the front, and glueing the tweed towards the rear. the trimming SUCKED!!!!!!!!!! here is a few pics of finished headliner with pillars! i had to put a piece of fabric on top of sunroof to get the flash to work, otherwise it would just be black looking. now its on to the dash, door panels and the rear wall panel.
Bump. I searched but was unsuccessful, is there a write up to do the headliner without a sunroof. I what to change the vinyl to tweed. THNX
Thanks. And HALMS, I would do headliner the same way, minus the foam insulation. Just clean metal real good, glue some padding up, then glue fabric to it. I only used the foam insulation to fill the gap from the sunroof mounting ring.
