Ok so recently me and a couple of friends weve been working on a '79. We found that the balljoints on the drag link were loose and popping wenever u turned. It turned out that one was stuck to the idler arm. So we bought the drag link and idler arm and started taking things apart. Well everthing came off pretty easily excexpt the mount goin to the Pitman arm from the drag link.

That bastard wont come off. So we tried just taking the pitman arm off the steering box and that failed miserably. We ended up with a bent puller:lol:

So now were ready to give up. What else can we try on this F'n thing?

    New steering box?

I had the same trouble with my steering stabilizer and idler arm. There wasn't much left of the bolt when they let go. :D

We bent a puller.... We used a tie rod seperator and that went to sh!t. We tried propane torch+tie rod seperator+BFH=FAIL

my whole linkage was rusted to hell! I removed the whole thing but I had to get the pitman arm out...
My ball joint spreader came with a air chisel fitting
    popped it right out :D
that actually was one of the only parts that came off easy!
    god I hate rust!
