i want to put header's on my truck next year.but i also want to get rid of the catalytic converter.i don't want to restrict horsepower.plus give it a little bit more of a rumble.i already have a air-intake with a flowmaster 40 series exhaust.but i figure with the cat out of the way.i could have the muffler right off the header and i'll just have some make a down-pipe off the header's for it too!!!plus having the muffler right under the cab will work because i want to bag my truck later!!! i have no emmissions out where i live too!!!
Just leave your existing system and have the cat swapped for a length of exhaust tubing. If you bag it later, worry about the exhaust when you do all the crossmembers and ect underneath.
Ya once you bag it redo the exhaust becuase it'll lay on the ground like mine does haha but you can get a pipe that bolts to where the cat is an remove the cat. Once ou bag it an get a new trany crossmember then run your exhaust
i had a straight pipe made a while back, i would just unbolt the cat and bolt in the test pipe after i got my emissions, i didn't like the sound so i havn't put it on in a long time..i still have it tho
If you've got it off by the show, bring it with. A shop should be able to make a pipe for you. Have them make it and install it if they will. Otherwise have them put flanges on so you can bolt it in. Typically called a "test pipe" so they aren't getting in trouble for removing emissions parts, even if its not an emissions zone some places still won't do it.
I got a test pipe that I used on my 94 if your interested. Dont know if its the same length with your or not.
I have a question along these lines... If I pull the cat off of a 1991 22r truck, will it give me a check engine light or anything???
