finally got around to build my other engine....got tired of adding coolant from the bad head gasket..hehe, painted the engine bay satin black, masking paper sponsered by harbor freight! 5 speed celica gts trans is in already....It was pretty easy, didnt have to modify the deck for shifter, speedo cable screws right in,only mod was to cut the trans mount bracket and add a flat plate to screw all 4 bolts.

learned a lesson ... okay the engine was running smooth, but was starting to hear light knock on upper portion of block....I was scratching my head for sure:runaway:. So I took a cam and looked inside the chamber and saw some eyebrows on the piston,,,,I was saying ""oh s**t"!!!! so long story short, head was resurfaced at the machine shop, plus the lift on the cam made the valves hit the piston.luckily not enough to bend the valves.:brickknock: I put the stock cam in and all is good,no touching, engine runs smooth . next time I will do valve to piston clearance!!! coulda been an expensive lesson if I ran it like that for long!!

Im going thru the same thing right now. Im running a web 292 and valves were hitting the top of the pistons so I went ahead and replaced valves and Im just waiting for a dual sping kit to come in from LC.
