Stereo help please

    someone before i owned my 89 toyota pickup cut the factory harness and i am know trying to install a alpine cde-9872 and i can get the stereo to come on and play but it will not hold memory someone please help

    sounds like you need a hookup to a live 12v fused source that will keep power to it.

    Yeah, you need to find a constant 12 volt. You should have two 12 volt. 1 constant (yellow on head unit) for memory and 1 ignition (red on head unit) to turn off and on.

    yeah i can get it to come on and play but when i turn the key off and then back on everything is reset

    you have the constant and accessory mixed up...

    switch your yellow and red wires around

    ok can someone just tell me which wires to connect red to green this constant and accesory stuff is confusing

    90 4runner, 94 standard cab, 90 standard cab STOLEN
    grab a test light or a volt meter and find a wire that has power(12v) on even when the key is in the off position (constant). Thats the wire you want to hook up your memory to. Next find a wire that shows power when you have the parking lights on. That's the wire you'll hook your wire for the lights on the radio. The other wire will be hooked up to power.     Like what trap replied. Maybe a further explanation will help. You have the 2 backwards. The unit holds memory as long as its on, but once you shut it off, the memory is lost, because the wire for memory is only being fed when the unit is on. Hope that helps.

    or you can do like the po did on mine tie the red and yellow together and ran a wire strat to the battery
    so I started to look at it to hook it up close to right but the factory wire'n is all cut up and some of it is gone:brickknock:
