Figured I'd throw a few pictures of some step notches I built and installed for a dude. I'll be bagging this truck sometime in the near future, so he wants to get started on a few things for now.
No, but they are 2x4 x .120 wall which is about twice as thick as the frame and had a nice V channel that I filled with weld. I coppied a friends design that he did and it's been going great for a couple years now. I know it wouldn't be a bad idea at all, but I have alot of faith these will be just fine. I wondered the same thing too when I saw the ones he originally did. Thanks.
I'd be happy to make a set for you. I do know you can buy some stuff on places like suicidedoors.com, and I know they have the 3 piece weld together universal style, I just can't remember if they offer fully boxed ready to go notches...especially thick ones like these. If you're really interested, I'll do some research and make sure you're getting a more than fair price. I'll use a truck at my local salvage yard for measurements too so we'll know they'll be exactly what your truck needs. These things weren't quite as easy as I originally thought they'd be. (mainly the cutting of the angles) *the notches, not the installation*
the only downside to this style notch on a yota is that the frame is already boxed, and you have to cut the inner wall out to install. but they do look much cleaner than an 8 piece.
