I was just wondering what people were using for dampeners, im getting ready to replace my relay rod (center link) and i want to replace that to. I noticed that my wheel was all over the place when i hit bumps ever since i put the wheels and tires on. Ive seen tons of dual stabilizers for 4wd trucks and almost nothing for 2wd, is anybody running a dual setup on 2wd???? any help would be great
I am running a dual... Pretty sure I am the only one... What you are experiencing is called "tramlining" Here is my thread on it... http://www.toyotaminis.com/forum/showthread.php?t=306 <a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb99/mtb68pb/08-03-07_1634.jpg" border="0" alt="Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket"></a>
just ordered a 4wd dual stabilizer kit, might have to make my own frame braket but i will have to look at it when it get's here. i will take pics of it once i get them on
Tramlining.... thats why 2 stabilizers As for what one I used... it was off a straight axle 4wd the mount for the steering bar bolts right up as for the mount on the frame I welded a piece of steel over the existing mount with two holes in it
That sounds alot like the kit i ordered, it has a braket that mounts to the relay rod but im not sure what the frame mount adapter will look like. its a good thing i have a mig welder
MTB68TOY, do you have any better pictures of your dual stabilizers? I want to see how you fab'ed up your mounting tabs and such
If you look closely there are yellow arms under the frame which indicates that it's probably on a lift. It confused me the first time I looked at it too.
Next time it's on the lift (too funny lit... on it's side LOL) I will take some more pics of just the stabilizer setup It's not a big secret or complicated setup.... I used a straight axle kit I scammed off my 84 4wd parts truck the axle mount fits perfect on the steering linkage.... the other end where it mounts to the frame only has a single stabilizer mount I cut the bracket I had from the dual kit so it was just a flat piece of steel with two holes I positioned the top hole of the new bracket right over the existingbrackets single hole Welded it in place Viola two holes.... I really don't recommend this setup anyway.... my steering is really stiff... When I get some frigin time (ya right) I am going to put my smaller tires on (from 245/45 to 215/50) which I am hoping will eliminate enough tramlining to drop back to one stabilizer.... Right now My daughter, new girlfriend and beating the snot out of my 06 GTO are higher on the priority scale... winter will bring more time to waste...
I guess having two will make it hard to turn< i just got my dual setup from Summit, I'll try The two and see how hard it is to turn the wheel. If its to much i'll just take one off and have a spare. Be safe in that GTO ( It's Far from a P-up with a 22RE )
