Anyone have a source besides Toyota ($80 yikes) for a speedometer cable?
81 Toyota pick WITH cruise control.
Or know what years/makes might have a part that will swap?
All the aftermarket places dont carry it anymore, and i really don't want to try and find one in a junk yard.Last time i looked around here there were no 79-83 pickups....

any other Wxx cable will work, so will auto Axx.

should be able to get one in a junkyard from any celica(rwd) corona celica or pickup.

also make sure its the cable and not the gears that went out

just fyi for any body that has an issue with the cable. An easy way to test if the cable is good is to pull the cable off the tranny and stick a drill on it and spin it :) my drill reads 45mph:D helped me with my w56 swap i just did.

Any drill will work. 1st grab an buddy and have them sit in the truck and watch the speedo (not a banana hammock speedo but the one in the dash :D lol). slid under the truck unscrew the plastic nut and pull the cable out. slid the cable into the chuck of the drill, tighten, and spin it and see if the speedo moves. If it doesn't, flip the switch and spin it the drill the other way. If that doesnt work then ether the speedo it self is the problem or the cable. you can also take the cable out of the back of the speedo and do the same thing and feal if its spinning:) .

Try your local auto parts, I just purchased one last night for an 83 4x4, made by ATP, they had them in 48" 75" and 90" lenghts, brand new, complete housing, cable and lube for less than 20 bucks.
