Trying to find out what is the maximum weight a 1976 Long Bed can do. In other words, what is the most weight the entire truck can take on without damaging the engine, axles, etc. I know that the question is broad and takes on many dimensions, but just a general weight spec is all that I am seeking. I'm looking for specs in the manual, but I can find anything specific. Also: What is the weight of the bed? What is the weight of the cab? What is the weight of a rolling chassis? TIA and regards!
I have a 78 LONGBED. It scales in around 2500, give or take a little. I have had as much as 1500 lbs in the bed. While being lowered lol. I wouldn't do it all the time but it made it up the hills and got me to the scrap yard that day. The bed is around 300 lbs. cab a little more. Rolling chassis I don't know, but the axle is about 120 lbs, trans is about 110, and the motor is about 325 fully dressed.
factory gross weight rating for 76 long bed is 3,920 lbs. truck is 2,545 lbs, cargo weight rating is 1,100 lbs. all numbers from 76 brocure
