Trying to find out what is the maximum weight a 1976 Long Bed can do.

In other words, what is the most weight the entire truck can take on without damaging the engine, axles, etc.

I know that the question is broad and takes on many dimensions, but just a general weight spec is all that I am seeking.

I'm looking for specs in the manual, but I can find anything specific.

    Also:

What is the weight of the bed?
What is the weight of the cab?
What is the weight of a rolling chassis?

    TIA and regards!

I have a 78 LONGBED. It scales in around 2500, give or take a little. I have had as much as 1500 lbs in the bed. While being lowered lol. I wouldn't do it all the time but it made it up the hills and got me to the scrap yard that day.

The bed is around 300 lbs. cab a little more. Rolling chassis I don't know, but the axle is about 120 lbs, trans is about 110, and the motor is about 325 fully dressed.

Like I said, 1500 was too much but it did do the job lol. Try to keep it to half a ton.

My 78 is rated at either 4000 or 4100. Wonder what the differences between the years are
