What's everyones opinions on spark plugs? I have a 90 model w/22re....I have heard to use NGK but which ones? Part numbers? My other question was what mufflers are y'all running? I want a nice deep tone....Magnaflow? What size pipe? Any help is much appreciated?
My vote is also for NGK. Buy the regulars one since there in no need for iridium. I'm old school, so I vote for Flowmaster. My truck still has the Flowmaster from 1991. Rick
Standard NGK's work well. As for a muffler get what you can live with the sound of. Personally I like flowmasters but my truck currently has a magnaflow on it. While I like the full throttle and cruise note it makes when I let off to decelerate it sounds like a bunch of bee's with kazoo's up their asses. Oh and anything over 2 1/4" is worthless. Too large of tubing causes a loss of back pressure (a little is GOOD, too much is bad) which causes a loss of bottom end and midrange torque so your mileage will suffer.
Just my preference, I use ngk plugs, and had a magnaflow installed I like the throaty of the magnaflow but it's not to over bearing.
I ran NGK on everything for the longest time however lately been getting a deal on the Bosch platinum IR fusion and they treat me well. I also have 2" header back pipe to a thrush turbo muffler it sounds pretty good, probably would be better if I could run longer pipe (my entire system ends under the driver seat)
Yeah the muffler was what I was really undecided on. Im having some issues with the truck so im hoping replacing this old muffler will help. I think im gonna go with the magnaflow, im trying to find weld on Oxygen sensor bungs right now because im going to fab this system myself.
Performance Toyota Exhaust Accessories Here's a bung I run a Borla stainless muffler & the stainless LC cat alone with their stainless header!
Sounds like a nice setup! Im looking at cats and mufflers now (Magnaflow)...they are so much cheaper on amazon lol.
MagnaFlow Exhaust Products - For Trucks, Suv's, American Muscle, Diesel, & Sport Compact Vehicles I think this is the one im going to go with.
Depends if you have vehicle inspection every year .it will be a little louder without a cat and proably hard to pass emissions test if you have it in your city I don't run one and my magnaflow is hollowed out it's loud but the lopping at idle from my cam is to intoxicating
I live in Alabama so no emissions but ive read that having a cat will also help keep the fuel/exhaust fumes down.
I just recently purchased a Magnaflow muffler on my truck. It sounds good when you first take off and its kinda quiet not too loud but my only complaint is full throttle its quiet? Are any of you guys running tips or not? I still have my cat and don't want to take it off due to emissions here in Cali. Also my pipe from the exhaust is stock so don't know if that's a problem or not? Just wanted it a little louder on the high revs. Any help whould be great since we're talking about mufflers.
New air filter or convert with an adapter to have a cone filter setup. Keep your cat, run 2.25" exhaust with a magnaflow. NGK plugs, I have the v-power ones. Add a resonator to help clean up the exhaust notes. The second you delete that cat, you'll wish you had it lol. It helps keep a cleaner sound.
