To the parts counter I go to inquire about the left rear wheel well moulding/chrome trim piece. The counter guy quotes me $165 for what should be a $20 piece of 'trim' Ok, how much for the Moon roof shade? $639 It's 20" x 15" at best Are they COMPLETELY NUTS!? Oh, and we don't stock any of it it's all in our Cali warehouse Not me fella' not at those prices How the heck do they think they are going to earn a new customer at those prices?!! I can make a danm moon roof shade from aluminum trim and fabric for $25!!
Try these guys out: http://www.trdparts4u.com/Scripts/default.asp They are a Toyota dealer and sell the parts for a reasonable price. James
I don't use either feebay or pp by choice. I do recall buying from JC Whitney in the '60's though! Actually drove right past their main plant on my way home. If I had the time I would've pulled in but that would've easily cost me an extra day on the road and loads of cash!
Well I am a middle aged guy having a Toyota Mid life crisis, just glad you young guys are here to coach me along! I was a Mopar FANATIC growing up( Volkswagon nutcase too, but I won't go there here) and ran some nice cars back in the day. There will never be cars like the '60's, easy to work on, long lasting, and powerful! Heck, I used to sit on the front fender of my '69 Sport Satellite and could dangle my legs IN the engine compartment while I look things over! The scissor jack out of my '65 Cadalliac could just about lift this whole Toyota truck off the ground! If you're ever in a junkyard and can score a jack out of an old Caddy DO IT! Best money you'll spend on one IME!
sidenote, the 90s crown victorias have a nice scissor jack too. i use it for a jackstand or tire block with my floor jack alot. i keep both with me all the time. haha.
No wonder the Original one that came with the truck looks like it's never been taken out of the compartment! A scissor style jack from a heavy car is a much safer jack to use than a post jack IME. It gives one a much larger area of contact for which to place under the vehicle.
