This guy wants to trade me for my boat, I value it anywhere from 4 to 5k, I wouldnt take any less then 3500 in my most desperate time of need.

The deal is straight up no cash, but hes going to trade me a car trailer, snap on welder, and something else, he wants to give me an air compressor but i dont need it. He is thinking of something else to include. Im trying to go for the tank for the welder but well see...

Ill throw a few pics up and this is the welder hes looking to give me.. It looks like a nice and retails over 3k but ive found them used for around 1000...

Basically I just want to know if you all think its a good and equal trade..I could use the trailer and the welder a lot...

how often do you use the boat vs how often would you use the other stuff. Not to mention the extras that go with using the boat (gas, storage, insurance, wear and tear etc.) When it comes down to it you will know the answer to that question. if it was me i'd probably lean toward the trade as I could use the trailer for my truck, jeep project, or anything else i may need. Not to mention the welder could help me work on my truck, jeep and suburban. There is that saying that the happiest days in a boat owners life is the day he buys it and the day he sells it.

I would do the trade if I were you. Looks like you'll be coming out on the better end, atleast in my opinion.

patrick, I havent had the time to use it yet, plus it being winter now. when the water heats up it will be used probably once a week.. I do go out on my flats boat regularly but I was considering selling it to my cousin. its in my backyard so no storage, no insurance on it either. I know i could use the trailer because i typically rent one from uhaul every other month with friends needing to be towed, and the welder I could probably use it every day if i have money for the metal lol. Im just thinking right now, if it came down to it and i had to sell the stuff, would I be able to get as much as I could have for the boat.

MMM I dont know about florida prices but you said $3500 lowest for boat on a desperate scenario... For $3500 I could buy a flatbed car hauler (decent used one no junk) and a very nice welder and have cash left over in Boise. Decent welders are pretty cheap here or atleast the ones good enough to build a minitruck. So Id say if prices over there are fair then sell the boat and buy a trailer, welder, whatever and have money left for a build or something. However car trailers are pretty easy to sell so are welders if they are in great shape so

The deal is good if you get more than what you paid for the boat... I myself would keep the boat and take some people fishing or diving for some side cash.... :waytogo:

What you need a car trailer for? Uhaul rents them for like 65 bucks a day...

What do you want the trailer for? I would ask what the load capacity is on it, the tires and wheels look a bit small. It might be like a 1 ton trailer. I have a 3 ton trailer I paid under $1000 for. It needed a little work, and looks a little rough, but it has new tires and I am still under $1000 on it. And it has a winch mount (no winch included), and a tilt bed.

And I have a professional Lincoln Welder that was around $1600. Seems like you could get more value just selling the boat, if you can really get $4k out of it you would be ahead of the game.

My friend has that same Snap-On welder, he bought used for $1500 with a HyperTherm plasma. I bought the plasma from him, but after using the welder I didn't want anything to do with it. I don't really like the Snap-On welders. I've used a $600 Hobart that felt like a better built machine.

yeah the more ive been thinking about it, the less I want to trade.. Ive been looking at welders on craigslist. and think I can do better. the trailer is real nice though and has a 7k limit, and electric winch. I tow my friends cars around to different shops and figured instead of letting uhaul make 60 bucks each time I could make 40. but I think im going to hang on to it, clean it up some and maybe sell it over the summer depending on what my job situations looking like...
