K guys i got this call yesterday from a guy wanting to trade straight up for my truck. I have a 94 standard cab that i posted on craiglist about 2 or 3 months ago just to see what i can get and the funny thing is this is a truck i know some of you seen before. He said his wife wants him to get rid of it cause she hates bagged trucks but lowered is fine. So he likes mine and i was wondering what you guys think i should do? Trade it or dont trade it? Heres his craigslist link.

    bagged and body dropped toyota

looks like he has the engine swapped (2.4/ auto tranny) and it isn't smogged. You live in commifornia right? good luck with getting it legal. So unless you have a way to bypass the carb laws and get that truck legal i'd pass on the account that it'll be more head ache than it's worth.

Ya i have ways around all that. I know a guy that owns a couple of smog shops. Also i think he did mention it had a 2.4 in it. I just dont like the body on it. I wish it had the 2000 front end and bed on it still then i would of jump all over it. But now i dont no what to do.

i say do it! i'm pretty sure that the 2rz is a 2.4l so it's the stock motor.

then take off that ugly ass taco frontend and send it my way :D (it's the clip i plan on putting on my 86 chopped toy)

and then put on the proper clip

Oh right there. Bernie just made everything cherry. Do it now. Dont have to worry about smog. Bernie can take the clip and you get a badass motor. I want one of those.

Well he said he invested 7 grand in it, But was kinda shady to me because if i investeded that much why would you just trade straight across for an older truck with nothing done to it but lowered and has about 40 thousand more miles. What also made it fishy was that he said he had other offers to trade him like a fixed up pre runner and some other things that were way better then mine. Somethings up. Plus i dont no what to look for on a bagged truck cause i never had one.

if this is your first definitly take someone who knows what they are looking at with ya. I swear ive seen this truck at a show or cruise night, maybe local finesse? if ya got a clean daily i would not trade for this thing, its a project, and all in all it really doesnt look that good. ( in my opionion )

he might have had offers to trade stright, but once they saw what they were getting in trade the other party might have backed out.

i never go off of what people say they invested in a truck. If he went to some shop and got raped for 7 grand why should it be a straight trade for something you did yourself and invested 7k of your own money in ya know. take somebody who knows about bagged trucks, or just avoid this one, too fishy

From what i remember its been traded around a lot. Actually i think someone else linked it from some place else. People were saying the body kit never matched and the wheels looked to small. I also think that it needed a lot of work to be finished.

Ya we posted tht in a thread awhile back. I like like it in my opinion but would put bigger rims on it an probably wider. But I'd def get alot of pics from underneath the bag mounts, welds everything you can

I'm amazed that the panels fit that close, are the frames that similar? I wouldn't think so.
Doesn't sound like a good deal to me. Even if it is a stock 2rz, with everything that's been changed on that thing and the fact it's been around a lot of hands, I'd pass. I had a Civic like that once and wound up spending 10K on a 6k car just to get it to be driveable.

But that's just my opinion. i would prefer the 2000 body panels too, I think the new ones don't look as good.

    well? what happened?
if i was standing next to me, and had a smogged daily driver, no worries, and wanted to do baggin' and stuff, i would say to myself, why not do it with what you have already?
OR, buy one of the other ones your friends have and you know whatsup...

Well guys nothin happend. I didnt do it. The reason why is cause i didnt like the body on it and he didnt have the old one to put back on. Plus he didnt have a hood for it and this would of been my daily driver. Then my wife convinced me that i should do my own instead of buying somone elses that i dont no how hard he ran it and if the bags, tank, lines, compressors, valves were any good. Plus im happy with mine. But if anyone wants to trade the guy i think i have his number. Or offer him cash i know he wants it gone so probley wont be much.
