    Its not a simple swap.
You will have to take about 6 inches out of the frame between the cab and rear end,and some of the rear.
Also you will need to change drive shafts, and i think the gas tank is different as well.

Just get it LOW. long beds look sick really low.

Check out this site too...http://www.downundertruckin.com. The guys over in Australia are experts in building long bed trucks. Almost every truck over there is a long bed & short beds there is a rare item.

I got to go along with everyone else on this, I would keep the long bed, I'm a long bed fan myself, always have been and I guarentee you'll love it when you get it lowered, long beds makes lowered trucks look longer, optical illusions are cool, anyway I'd keep it, good looking base to start with too, looks really clean, good luck on the build.

Just looked at your truck again, the first thing I would do would be to ditch your 2wd fenders and replace them with 4x4's, they bolt right up and will match your bed, I absolutly love the 84-88 4x4 bed and front fender combo, so badazz, especially lowered!!! You have an awesome truck to start with, congrats!

on was thinking of doing this on my 79Lb. i figured out using the original owners manual as reference that i needed to take 6" out of the front section and 8" out of the rear section. the problem is the leafs were considerably longer on the long bed model, and when taking 8" out of the rear, the back shackle would be out past the bed. so basically you would need short bed springs, fuel tank, drive shaft etc. it would be easier to sell it and buy a shortbed. but like everyone else i say build it as a long bed, not nearly as common.
