I was wondering what you guys thought bout shaving the door handle... anybody that had/has them, liked\regret? Im thinking bout it but wondering if its really hassle or annoying... or would it be the same as with door handle...?
Its definitely a cool looking mod that will get you attention. They can be annoying when your hands are full and you are trying not to put down your case of beer or whatever, while dicking around with your remote. It takes longer to open then door handles, if you forget something and have to immediately open your door it takes a couple seconds. An emergency release is a must. If you are a baller hook up some Ultra Touch's (warning: autoplaying loud video/music)
I have one done an doin the other this weekend I like it. Looks cleaner.go with the avs kit it's simple an easy to hook up
ya, seen the ultra touch but seem easy for some tweaker to get in my truck and get w/e he wants while i'm inside store, since this gonna be my daily driver
I'va had mine shaved for 10 years on my daily driver, just don't skimp on the solenoid kit and you'll be fine and defintely put in a emergency release..It doesnt take any longer to get in with shaved doors, in fact i think its quicker..a press of a button vs getting your keys out and unlocking then opening
what kind of kits would you guys suggest?? Price is no problem, just one kit that i wont have problems. Also where did you guys hide your emergency release at?
Mine are shaved... Way faster to get into and way better looking. You cant go wrong shaving the handles. Spal kit in mine. Flawless operation. Kit is only like $135. Go for it !
i used the AVS KIT from ebay its okay as long as u maintain it with the occasional wd40 shot..and idnt have emergency release either..i dunno how..haha
As far as emergency release goes... I just stubbed some wires in a "secret place" lol to hook up to an external battery in case of a dead battery.
I wired mine up on a couple of relays even though the spal kit has internal ones that can drive the soelnoids. I ran 12ga. to them from the relays because they can draw some amperage and id rather have them on external relays anyhow... Keeps the load off of the module. I could draw you up a schematic if you like when your ready...
i was though that the emergency handle was if the solenoid were to go bad or battery issue but now i know that the odds of both going out same time is rare , i'm thinking going with autoloc, thanks guys with all the help, i think i have enough info to actually go with shaved doors
holy **** check these out, thats hella sick!!!! Way safer!!! Emergency Release lock with 2 keys.. http://www.thehoffmangroup.com/autoloc/details.lasso?itemid=SVERKEY&REFID=5013
I couldnt even tell you man... I'm not charging my buddy...Just helping him. He's not so great at body work and welding. It's actually the bodywork that takes the longest... The mechanical stuff isint so bad. Matter of fact I'll post up some pics of the install tomorrow. That way u can see how much work there is.
