OK, I have a '76 with a monkey rigged bench seat. It is coming out in favor of a set of Prelude buckets. So I go to the local JYs trying to find a set of sliders for the second seat. ALL of the same series trucks have a different type of slider. Mine mount to the top of the floor cross brace, and are quite long. I checked out a '73 and a '77 (and a lot of '81-88) and they all bolt to the front (vertical) side of the cross brace and are so short they won't line up with any holes at the rear. What gives? Did Toyota make two totally different floor pans? I can get pics of mine if it will help clear this up, but I can't see why mine should be so different! Thanks in advance!
I can (as in I have the ability) but really didn't want to. The original sliders are perfect for the seats, the Prelude sliders are junk, and I really like the wide base of the mounts, less metal fatigue for where I have to put the new holes. I spent a while looking at pics of the other trucks around here, and it looks like floorpans like mine are a minority but they do exist. So, basically I just need to find another set of sliders from someone who has the right ones. "Wanted" section, here I come!
I had the buckets out of my 1976 Long Bed automatic last month detailing the floor. I measured the passenger side mounts. Front: 14 1/2" Left: 20 5/8 Right: 20 1/2 Back 15 They are the headrest-less stock buckets. Hope that helps some. A
Well, you confirmed that there is at least one other truck with the same setup as mine! I wasn't sure if it was a bench/bucket seat issue, but since you have buckets that scenario is eliminated. You have the long slider setup too. The ones I have found in the JY are only about 13 inches long. I am hoping someone has a set of the version I need..... Until then, I will just have to avoid carrying a passenger!
