I just dropped my truck with a 5 inch angled drop block and now when I drive it, it makes a screeeching noise. HELP please!!!!!!
Get the truck up high enough so you can get under it and look it all over. Look for any signs of paint rubbed off, metal that looks freshly cut, or any other obvious signs of contact. I pay very close attention to the driveshaft and tires.
Ditto with the tires & driveshaft, but, dont forget to check out or adjust your brake proportionating valve to, if you havent, chances are high that its applying the brakes ( if only slightly or more ) because the truck is assuming more weight has been added to the bed . . . ( FYI Its the rod that connects to the axle by the pumpkin and then runs up to the valve by the gastank, follow the brakelines youll find it! ) . . .
Even if the proportioning valve is all the way down it shouldnt activate the brakes at all. The worst that will happen is when the brake pedal is pushed it will lock up the rears right away. All it does is meter the amount of fluid flow to the rear. The more weight in the back the more force that is applied to the rear brakes. So basically as long as the brake pedal isnt pushed the rears should never come on at all. Nothing personal LownLoud.
sounds like the driveshaft is rubbing against the center crossmember. this is a very common problem with the standard cab trucks when dropped real low in the rear.
yup. mine hit after i whent from 3" to 6" and had to cut out the center x-member out. it actually was resting on the x-member itself when i brought it off the jack stands and dropped another inch after i cut it out........ it was sitting on it that bad you'll see the "line" drawn across the driveshaft point.dont let it sit on there like that for too long, or it'll bend the driveshaft and screw it up entirely like i think i did mine
