So I got some decently nice 4runner seats for 60 bucks at a Tear A Part. Just curious do I need to drill and tap 4 new holes (the inside holes) for these seats to bolt up or are they already there since its the same floor design?
Just as a precaution, you might also want to put a backing plate, couple of thick fender washers or something else there to spread out the impact and make sure that in the event of an accident, the seat bolt doesn't get torn through the sheet metal. Yes, I'm probably being an overly-cautious, ninny, but in my opinion, its better safe than sorry. Grade 8 bolts too.
Naw I'd be just as cautious. But I did manage to save all the bolts from the seats so I just gotta get the thread pitch and diameter then drill and tap.
I didnt have to drill any new holes in my floor when I put 4runner seats in my single cab. The only issue I had was that there wasn't a capture nut for the inside front bolts on either side so I welded them in. Everything else bolted right in.
On my ex cab I used the seat belt bolt and hole for one bolt still haven't done the front bolt that doesn't line up
UPDATE! So I got them in last night. Don't worry I'll get some pics. I really wasn't planning on putting them in I just wanted to see how placement was going to be and since the seat belt holes lined up I thought eff it I'll put them in. So now I'll just drill two holes and bolt them down with some lock washers and nuts.
Hellz yeah brudda those seats look great!! Good score for only $60!! I'm working on the new brackets for the 95 Celica GT seats I picked up. It was either make new brackets or bolt the old rails to the tracks on the new seats!!
Yeah I'm sure there are some better seats but I needed something quick and easy to go in cuz LilRed is my only transportation.
