94 base standard cab I've had for 6 years now. Bought from Indiana where they don't salt like they do here in Wisconsin. Was pretty nice back then, but Blew a headgasket and she sat for 3 years, little did I realize collecting rust. Was going through a gallon of coolant every 500 miles for 15,000 miles before i locked up the block. In the meantime I picked up a running 22re that the previous owner was planning to boost. low comp pistons and freshish head. i gathered all the necessary boost parts and decided not to due to the poor head mount design (I learned I was headed to blown head gasket territory over and over again). So I bought a new loaded head (to my surprise rather cheap) and replaced everything while doing the swap. Couldn't free up the block (at the time I didn't know it was locked up) Picked up a known running 200k mile 22r and bolted the new upper to the block. I have about 5k miles on the setup and it's been great! I am not burning any fluids and I feel like I have all the 116 furious horse powers i should have lol. I lowered her before I blew the engine rather cheaply (2in blocks and flipped ball joints) I've now decided I want to make her great. Rusty underneath, not something I don't believe I can save with rust converter and paint, and a rather clean body...
Thus the title lol. These trucks in the Midwest are sold for power trains because of frame failure. Been hacking away at it little by little. I'm starting at the rear. Had to break the leaf u bolts and cut the front leaf mount bolts. Trying to get the leafs out of the shackle is troubling now.
