chased down a guy taking a stout to the scraper. I told him I would match what they were giving him. It is pretty hammered but there are a lot of good parts to help get mine closer. I will post a pic soon.
If you are interested I know where a complete stout is hear in southern OR for $600. It's pretty much rust/dent free all the glass is there etc. Engine has been removed and is in the bed
In 1964 Toyota reported selling only 4 Stouts in the USA. the first frame number was 10007. The frame number on this Stout is 10013. And according to some research I have done over the last couple days there was 814 Stouts built in 1964 according to the frame numbers. But it is unclear where these other Stouts went (possibly other countries, to dealerships for testing or display, etc.) So this Stout appears to be one of the first or possibly the first Stout sold in the USA.
Holy crap . . . thats hella kewl . . . I wonder if the previous owner even knew what he had ( second thought - I dont think so - OR - maybe he didnt care ) In any case great find man . . .
the previous owner didn't care. the truck was on a property in a little mountain town. all the windows were broke out except for one and it has been shot with several diffent guns. the tailgate and roof have been peppered with a shotgun. I am debating wether or not to keep it. I have a buddy that is wanting to restore a Stout, but I have too many other projects that are lacking attention. What would you guys do?
AWESOME FIND!!!! Something that rare, personaly I would have it media blasted, then have several coats of good epoxy primer put on it, and tuck it away away in a nice safe, dry spot for a later time when I could focus on it.
honestly, if it needs glass all the way around....5" chop. just make a windshield for it. and bag it. leave it stock. my old boss had a 54ish ford truck way rougher than that, i kept telling him...make it run, let me bag it...then drive it. done. haha.
get it running and put glass in it. make it safe to drive and DRIVE IT! worry about custom touches later!
